Over the past few months I have had the problem of my Spotify switching to playing on an unknown device. I will be playing my own music, and suddenly it will switch to some other song/artist that I don't listen to, connected to an unknown device through Spotify connect. When I try to switch it back to playing on my own device and playing my music again, it will get switched again within a few seconds, so I know it is a person controlling it.
My Spotify account is accessed through my Facebook (I have Student Premium). I have this problem both on my Android phone and on my Macbook Pro; it has occurred on various Wifi networks as well as while using mobile data, and has occurred at my own home and at other places 100s of miles away, so it is not a proximity/shared network issue.
I have done the following, which have not worked:
1. Signed out of Spotify on all devices
2. While connected to unknown device, clicked on "Forget this device" (the problem will occur again anyway)
3. Turned off all screen sharing/casting/streaming capabilities on my devices
4. Logged out of all devices/locations on Facebook
5. Changed Facebook password, then again logged out of Spotify on all devices (to log back in using new Facebook password)
In the screenshot, all devices are mine except for the last ("Salon") - I can't even tell what kind of device it is.
The Recently Played section is full of songs I don't and have not listened to.
Whenever the device takes over, I will switch the song while on their device and blast the volume. I know someone is using it because they will turn the volume back down (I can see the volume slider change on my Spotify app), and I'll keep turning the volume all the way back up until they give up.
This is extremely frustrating. Is there a way to forget this device indefinitely? Or at least see the IP address of the device so I know where it's coming from? I've logged out of all devices on Facebook and Spotify and changed my password and this is still an issue. I would rather not make a whole new account.
