Uploaded playlist from MP3 dump, can only listen to some tracks (most grayed out)

Newbie

About a year ago, I uploaded a long (543 songs) playlist from an MP3 dump on my computer to Spofity. I do not remember how I did this, but since then I have been able to listen to most of the playlist on ANY device (this isn't a Local Files issue). Many of the tracks are "grayed out" and will not do anything.

I initially attributed this to improper formatting of the MP3 files, as I had issues transposing the same playlist into another medium for that reason. I have created a second version of this playlist with no spaces in any file names, and most have accurate metadata (title, artist, album).

However, now I am completely unable to upload this playlist from the MP3 dump on my computer to a Spotify playlist able to be played on any device.

How can I either repair the original playlist so all 543 songs are functional, OR how can I upload this new playlist to be played through Spotify on any device (assuming the previous issue was formatting)?

I've been talking it over with support for some time now and there seems to be no obvious solution. This playlist has a special place in my heart and I'd love to see it available online anywhere I go.

Hey @nhackett151! Welcome to the Spotify Community. ^^

I'm sorry to hear that.

Have you checked your 'Local Files Preferences' in your app?:

  1. Go to your Settings
  2. Scroll down to 'Local Files'

Be sure that that all the relevant paths for the songs are set up there.

And please also check that all of your devices are using the same Wi-Fi while trying to sync your Local files. ^^

Peace
