Uploading a single, album containing that single being uploaded later. What happens?

If an artist uploads a single to spotify, what happens when the album containing that single becomes available later? Is there any way of deleting that single and "giving the nr of plays" to the same song, but that is now an album track? Or will they "compete", where the single will have more plays because it's been up on spotify for a longer time?

If they are on separate albums (in the Spotify catalogue, singles count as "albums") then the tracks will have different identifiers so they will compete.

Is there any way of letting Spotify know that the album track will replace the single track, and transfer the plays, and delete the single?

I would leave it, since you get the royalties for both anyways - and its nice to have the complete collection! 

I don't think you would be allowed to transfer the plays, but if you want to ask get in touch with artist services here and they will be able to answer any questions you may have.
