My Question or Issue

Similar to this report I often experience ads with a much louder volume than the song that was just playing. That makes me want to adjust the volume of the ad to avoid destroying my speakers, waking up the neighbours.

However, when I try to do that, the volume control slider immediately turns all gray, the green color and the knob disappear:

The volume slider remains in this state even after the ad has stopped playing and the music has resumed, so I'm unable to adjust the volume.

Reloading the web app (ctrl+r) fixes it. I don't see any errors in the JavaScript console.

Best regards,

Andreas

Hey @ondskabsgal, sorry to hear about that.

First, make sure that your browser is up to date. If that doesn't help, open the Web Player in an incognito window and let us know how it goes.

We're also wondering if this happens with all the ads, or only some? If the latter, which ones?

Keep us posted 🙂

Hi Jemi,

Thanks for replying.

Yes, it seems to happen with all ads. Not once have I adjusted the volume
during an ad where it didn't happen.

I can also reproduce it in Firefox, so it's not a Chrome-specific issue. I
also tried clearing all site data for open.spotify.com as well as Incognito
mode, same result.

Have you tried? I'd be surprised if you cannot reproduce it 🙂

Best regards,
Andreas
