[WP8] App does not remain active in the background

It is an extremely annoying bug. If I am listening to music and get a call, the music cannot resume afterwards. I need to restart the app which can take quite a long time. If I so much as check my email, the app will not be able to resume playing without needing to restart. Is there a workaround or planned update? If this is not resolved soon I am afraid I may need to switch to another service...
