Will there ever be a libspotify replacement ?

Will there ever be a libspotify replacement ?

Hi,

In the beginning, you provided libspotify API which was really useful and is the main reason why I choose Spotify over other streaming services.

However, libspotify is not supported since years and it contains a lot of bugs.

In addition, it has been deprecated years ago and we are told there will be a replacement for many years.

It seems there is nothing done about the situation except for periodic updating of the date when there will be a replacement and breaking existing devices using libspotify by shutting down parts of its server side.

Will there ever be a replacement?

Why not just make a documentation for the API used by the webplayer?

When will the existing libspotify get shut down, "later this year" is not really useful.

I really like Spotify and would really appreciate any response.

Sincerely Thalhammer

I would like to echo this question. Spotify has immense potential as a platform for third party developers, being the only music subscription service to provide playback capabilities. It would be truly unfortunate if that portion of libspotify never gets a modern, supported replacement, but if that is how it has to be, some frankness about the state of things on Spotify's part would be appreciated.

Is there any progress on this?

Apperantly Spotify care is as dead as the api we are asking for....
