Amazon Echo and Spotify via Sonos - No Audio from Spotfy

Amazon Echo and Spotify via Sonos - No Audio from Spotfy

Hi

I have just received my amazon echo dot and linked my Spotify account to it and set it as my default music service. Initially it worked and music played fine via the line-in on my sonos. Then an hour later it asked it to play some music again and it responded it would play the music from Spotify and then silence. Tried this a few times and no audio. The Echo dot was responding fine to all other commands and would play music from Amazon Prime and TuneIn radio but not Spotify. Is this a known problem?

This has happened about 5 times now and when I spoke to Amazon support (who were basically useless) they said leave it a bit and hopefully it will start working ok? Really? - thanks guys..

As I say works perfectly with Amazon Music keeps falling with Spotify. I have unlinked at relinked the accounts but doesn’t make a difference.

Any ideas?

Thanks

M

Should have said that the only way I can get it working again is to unplug/power off the echo dot and then power it up again.. then spotify works for a bit before stopping...

HI. I'm having the exact same problem. Were you ever able to resolve the problem, and if so, how?

This is happening to me also. Was fine this morning, now Alexa recognises the command but no music streams from Spotify. Amazon music is fine.

Same here.  Worked all day yesterday.  Today it keeps going out.  Unlinking and linking worked twice.  Now, no matter what I do, it's just silent.

This is also happening to me, and it's incredibly frustrating. Spotify said "everything looks fine on their end" and basically told me to stuff it. Now the Amazon tech is saying it's a known issue. "Our specialist team will get back to you in a day or so." Kcool, thanks Amazon.

My Amazon Echo will not work with Spotify. I have tried every thing. It was working fine since I purchased the Echo and sign up with Spotify Prime. Last couple of days my Amazon Echo answers me back like I am linking up with Spotify but no music. I have tried everything and worked on it for hours. I do not know what else to do.

I had the problem with the echo not playing from Spotify, even though alexa said it is.

I rebooted the echo and it seemed to solve the problem.

However, it no longer recognises that I have linked it with my spotify account and tells me I need to link it... This is quite a flawed product - not properly de-bugged by any means. Increasingly disappointing.

I play my spotify via sonos. After updating my sonos app on desktop & IOS. There is no audio from spotify. Was wondering if you have any luck and solving your issue.

Spotify when use directly on iOS works. But via sonos, no audio.

Please help.

I've had the support case open with Amazon for about a month and a half now, they say it is a known probelm and it is a Spotify issue..

This is Joseph from Echo Tech Support.

I'm sorry our Engineers are still working on your case, My colleague had escalated this issue to our technical department and also put this case on priority.

I've informed my colleague to get back to you regarding the update.

The delay was not our intention. Spotify is a third party company and our team are doing their best to gather all the necessary resources from Spotify to resolve this issue.

The technical team have reached out to Spotify to help with this issue.

It appears that the PAUSE command is coming from Spotify, not Amazon.

If I hear anything I will post back.

Thanks

Michael

So what is happening with this? I have the same problem. I only just recently purchased my Dot. I installed my Premium Spotify account and all worked fine with my Sonos play5 via line in. Now for some reason it has stopped working! If I look at the Alexa app it shows as playing, so to on the Spotify app. But I can't hear anything from my Sonos. It has worked but why has it stopped working? Having read a lot online about this it would appear to be an issue going back several months with no real conclusion as to a fix. Just a conspiracy theory that it is a way to get you to dump Spotify for Amazon music.
Got to say, I'm getting a little disappointed with Amazon over this. It's there product and they should sort it and stop blaming others!
Help pleaaaaaaasssssseeeeeeeee!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

"Computer - play Enjoy the Silence by Depeche Mode."

'Enjoy the Silence - 7" version by Depeche Mode playing on Spotify'

........  silence

"Computer - Stop."

pause

"Computer - Play."

Words are very unnecessary - they can only do haaaaarmmmm....

This has been my experience with the Dot for the past few hours.   I have to request something, wait for it to tell my that it's playing, tell it to stop, then say Play again a few seconds later.   😞

Seems like a long running bug for such a simple thing.   The Amazon / Spotify Devs need to join up for a couple of happy hour coding sessions and get this fixed.

No one seems to take much notice. End of January my post and yours is the first interaction since. In fact when I just got the email informing of your post I was like, what's this all about. I'd totally forgotten about my post. I guess that's the way they like it. Let's not go holding our breath here. Could be a long wait lol.

Same here...I still have this issue as well.

Really poor support from Spotify and Amazon on this, they seem to blame each other. Thinking of switching streaming providers and cancelling my spotify account.

This is the last email i got from Amazon. I did reply to Richard to tell him that this didn't help but never got a reply 😉

Hello Michael,

This is Richard from the Echo team, I'm sorry you haven't been receiving any updates on this investigation, I can assure you it is still an ongoing issue, but it isn't resolved yet.

I hope this helps! Thanks again for your patience!

Warmest regards,
Richard B
