Alexa plays the wrong band on spotify

I often play music by the band "IAMX". Unfortunately, when I request Alexa to play songs, I often get "I AM X" (a different band), "XXXTENTACION" (?!), "IMx", "MX", "MAX", "Ava Max", and even "I Am A Functional Alcoholic". It's super annoying. How do I teach Spotify and Alexa to play what I am actually asking for? There is no way to block the wrong bands, apparently. Please help me before this turns me into a functional alcoholic!

Thanks for reaching out and welcome to the Community.

In this case we would recommend that you unlink your Spotify account from the Alexa app and run a clean reinstall before connecting them anew. This support article and this Spotify Answer have instructions that can help. That would prompt a synch between services and remove any files that might have gotten corrupted and causing connectivity issues.

If that doesn't solve this, we recommend that you reach out to Amazon. They'll happily help you out with fine tuning the voice commands on your speaker. You can do this here.

You misunderstand. This is not a problem with connectivity. This is a
problem with Spotify playing the wrong band when I ask for a band that has
many bands with names that sound similar to it. No amount of reinstalling
will fix that. The problem is Spotify. You need to either allow users to
silence bands we don't ever want to hear or at least allow us to specify
"preferred" bands that get looked at first when we make a voice request for
a band name.

I doubt you will fix this. Spotify is another giant tech corp that doesn't
care about user frustration. But I thought I'd try. And of course, you
blamed it on Amazon.
