Annoying “Hidden for 30 days” pop-up appears every time I hide a song

Hey everyone,

Every week I go through my Discover Weekly and sort it out: I hit the heart for the songs I like and use the “X” to hide the ones I don’t.

But for the past few weeks/months, every single time I press the X, I get a pop-up saying that the song will be hidden for 30 days. This happens with every song. Why? After the 10th time, I think everyone gets it.

Is there no way to disable or block this message? It feels really unnecessary and just adds extra clicks for the exact same action. Honestly, it’s pretty frustrating.

Yes! It's so annoying and inefficient. When I "X" the song, it means I want Spotify to completely block it from every playlist and I never want to hear it again. It feels like Whack a Mole. I hope the Spotify feedback team reads this.

When developing the 'Hide song' feature, we found that many seem to use it as a method to influence the algorithm's suggestions, so we've added an additional functionality where users will be able to 'snooze' hidden tracks, thus excluding them in all recommendations and across all platforms for 30 days. That way, you can keep things fresh while leaving the door open for a future reunion.

That being said, we also hear you that hiding a particular song means you don't want to hear it ever again. Your feedback on this is important, as it may ultimately end up paving the way for our broader user experience. Thanks for sharing it here - we appreciate it. 💚

I wish there was a toggle in the settings to 1) set the amount of time before a song is shown again in a playlist, or 2) have the ability to not show this pop-up every time. It's seriously frustrating to have to open Spotify (realistically I'm probably on another window and not actively having Spotify open), select the X button that used to be in the mini player/media control, then dismiss that pop-up, sometimes 20 times when listening to my discover weekly. And when I dismiss a song, I truly don't want to hear it ever again, otherwise I'm just going to skip past it or remove it from a playlist. Ideally there would be a way to see all hidden songs in one area and remove them from this "hidden" list, but honestly if I'm not feeling a song, it's rare that that will ever change going forward, especially when there's SO much music out there to explore. Thanks for the information, and hopefully Spotify will get our feedback and listen.
