My Question or Issue
The Spotify app (version 2021.09.13_2-48e8e67 H 4.19.0) on my LG smart TV doesn't play anything. Updates are not available. Reinstalling the app makes no difference. Playing something on the same network with a laptop or a mobile phone and then choosing the smart TV as the device only opens the app on the TV but doesn't play anything but keeps trying to connect. The TV is connected with an ethernet cable, laptop/phone is wireless.
Hey @prasun_das,
Thanks for your reply.
Would you mind trying with a different internet connection to see if that makes the difference? We suggest creating a hotspot on your phone and using that.
Also, we'd like to know if the same happens if you log in to your account on a different device and try again using the Connect feature.
We'll be on the lookout.
Hi Eni,
Apologies, for the delayed response. I did not get the community mailer mentioning your response.
I tried using the mobile hotspot method, same it starts the app on TV and then just sits there and it keeps saying connecting in the Android app. Multiple Spotify accounts tried as well. I had already tried on the windows app from MS Store and same thing happens. Additionally same mobile app works/invokes and plays song perfectly fine on my Sony Soundbar, thus issue seems to be with LG app if i am to guess. Hope there is a quick resolution. Many Thanks in Advance.
Hey there @prasun_das,
Thanks for getting back to us.
Just to confirm, is this only happening with Spotify or with other apps as well?
On another note, could you try restarting your TV by unplugging it from power for at least 15 seconds? Also, please unplug your router and plug it back in to check if that does the trick.
Keep us in the loop.
Hello Eni,
Yes I have tried turning off TV and Rebooting router.
Yes it works fine for Netflix and YouTube whereby connecting to tv turns the app on and plays the content perfectly fine.
Hey @prasun_das,
Thank you for keeping in contact.
We've tried to replicate the issue on our end, but with no success. At this point, we'd recommend getting in contact with LG support to see if they have more information about what could be causing that issue. It's possible that some drives or routes need to be updated on the OS system.
Lastly, remember to have the Spotify app, your TV's OS version, and the firmware up to date to avoid any inconveniences that this may cause.

Hi Oscar,
Many Thanks for trying.
Hello Oscar,
I am happy to report I resolved my issue.
I thought of giving it one last shot and did another TV reset, post which, Spotify connect started working, and while setting the TV up I renamed the TV to my usual name and I found Spotify connect stopped working again.
The reason for this is I found the strangest bug that was causing the trouble. In my TV name I always put an emoji, and for some reason it was creating some difficulty for Spotify connect to work (in device list it showed two device names for the TV , one was LG TV and the other the actual name i had put with emoji). After I removed the emoji and kept a plain text name, everything works perfectly. Hoping if someone faces similar issues my case gives people some solution.

My Question or Issue
I have two LG smart tvs that won’t play Spotify videos from podcasts. These same tvs used to play them just last week. What happened? Is this a a bug issue from Spotify or troubleshooting that I need to do?
I have the same problem
Also having the same problem!!!
Same problem here. Spotify support never had the answer, even after chatting with them for 8 hours. LG said the problem was not their end as Youtube videos play fine and the problem is clearly with the Spotify app which they don't own.
I just want yo bring to the attention, and point out the disappointing nature of it. Last update of Spotify yesterday broke the Connect Feature again, It was working like a charm till before the update (store says 5th July,22 update app version 2.0.26).
Immediately after the update the app wouldn't start when triggered from mobile. After reinstall, it starts but won't log in via Spotify connect.
I will not reset tv anymore and if it doesn't work anymore so be it. I regret my decision to update the app.
It started working out of the blue today on its own accord. Without doing any action.
I had the issue of not being able to connect to my LG TV as well. The issue in the end was the TV connecting to the internet with an IPv6 protocol, which the Spotify app apparently does not support.
Changing to an IPv4 protocol in the TV settings solved all issues
Unchecking ipv6 in my advance wifi settings on the lg OLED tv worked for me. Thanks!
Happens to me too exactly as described by you, OLED C2 my model of TV
