App update

App update

Dear Spotify,

There is an issue with the Spotify App on new Samsung TV's. After 2 minutes the TV screen will go into sleep mode, the music will continue to play but the screen will turn off. This is not a settings issue with the TV.

Having spoken to Samsung, the issue is that the Spotify App isn't telling the TV that media is playing. The screen sleep mode is an internal setting that cannot be adjusted on new Samsung TV's.

Spotify is the only app that does this. There are no permissions that will fix this. An App update is required from Spotify to fix.

Regards,

Dan

The same is true for me.

Please do a Samsung Smart TV app update soon!

Hey folks,

Thanks for reaching out to the Community!

Did you notice this after a recent update to the Spotify app or the TV? It's worth checking if the same behavior occurs when playing podcasts with video. If you haven't already, try reinstalling the app to see if that does the trick.

In case the issue persists, please share the following:

  • your device's model and OS version
  • the version of Spotify you're running
  • a short video which captures the described behavior in action

We'll be on the lookout for your reply.

I have the same problem, but not recording my screen for 300 seconds to show u it

Thanks for the reply @Alexsmith194.

Just to confirm, have you checked if the issue occurs with shows that have video? What about songs? Something else that's worth trying is opening the lyrics to see if that prevents the screen from turning off.

Also, make sure you're running the latest updates for your TV + the Spotify app.

Keep us posted on this 👍
