Bug report: Display Song name on Car Bluetooth

Bug report: Display Song name on Car Bluetooth

Hi, guys...since last Spotify Android update, im facing an issue playing on my car's bluetooth: everytime a new music begins, the music info didnt change on car display, they keep showing the previous song info (name, artist...)

So i tried with a different phone and problem persist

So i tried with another apps (Amazon Music and Spotify Lite) and problem is gone!

So i believe is something related to spotify app, as with amazon and lite version everything runs fine

Could u please take a look? Thanks a lot

I'm having the same exact problem. I am on Android. This issue is occuring across multiple cars.

Hi @rrusso86 and @Compteacher,

Thanks for posting in the Spotify Community!

Spotify is currently aware of an Ongoing Issue causing the wrong metadata to be displayed via Bluetooth on car radios. The right teams are aware of this issue and are currently looking into it.

I recommend adding your +VOTE to the Ongoing Issue, as well as adding a comment there to provide the teams with the following info:

  • device you've connected to your car (make, model, and OS version)
  • Spotify app version
  • you car's audio system (make and model)

It will also be useful for you to Subscribe to the Ongoing Issue by clicking the three dots next to its title; that way, you can be sure to be informed of any relevant updates.

Let me know if you have any other questions, and have a good day!

Same issue started in July 2021.

Android on Lineage OS 18.1 (Poco F1), Spotify latest version and both my bluetooth radios in my cars.

One is a Pioneer DEH-S720DAB and the other one is a Sync3 from Ford.

Regards

Roberto

It's working now and it's showing right album, artist, title on car screen and it's not showing previous track info and same time there is no more car mode button showing and it didn't automatically engage, but i didn't like car mode. Device is Samsung s20 fe, running android 11 latest firmware and software. Spotify application version 8.6.86.1231.

This is FINALLY working right for me.  Starting Friday the song data has been displaying correctly and not getting stuck after a few tracks.  I'm still really disappointed that this took MONTHS to fix this.  I'm glad it got fixed but should we expect these kinds of issues to keep happening?  Like I said before Spotify had pretty impeccable service up until late 2019 and things have been shaky since.

Still not working for me. Started happening when I had my pixel 3 then when I swapped over to Pixel 6 Pro the same problem persisted. Seems like they killed car mode and with it they killed support for my own pioneer stereo. I don't understand why they stopped supporting it if all other apps like Pandora and Youtube work fine with my apparently "outdated" car. Thanks again Spotify /s

Hi @jdcruz29,

Thanks for posting in the Spotify Community!

Unfortunately, as is mentioned in the Status Update for this Ongoing Issue, support for Pioneer car audio head units has been deprecated; so it’s expected to be unable to launch the built-in Spotify app from the interface.

However, you should still be able to play audio in your car from your mobile device via Bluetooth or through a USB cable.
