Can I use Spotify in a public library setting, eg children's programs?

I run programs such as baby rhyme time and like to play music to enhance the programs. Can I use my Spotify premium account for this? The program is run with small groups and is in no way making money. Public libraries are not a commercial space so I do not feel like this is covered in anything I have read on playing Spotify in public.

Hey there,

Thank you for reaching out here in the Community.

We understand your desire to play music from Spotify at your program, but as laid out in our Terms and Conditions, Spotify is only for personal, non-commercial use.

This means you can’t broadcast or play Spotify publicly from a business, such as bars, restaurants, schools, stores, salons, dance studios, radio stations, etc. If you'd like to play in a commercial environment, check out our friends at Soundtrack Your Brand.

Hope this clear things up,

Cheers!

A public library is not considered a business or commercial environment, though, so your response is not really applicable. Under the legal definition of “commercial use,” public libraries are excluded.
