Can't access any options in settings

Can't access any options in settings

Hi there,

When using Spotify web player, I can't access all of the tool/options that are usually listed in settings.

I can only change the language settings.

I can't access settings to turn on private mode, adjust quality of music, time between songs etc.

I kindly request your help to resolve this issue.

Thank you very much.

Hi @Bluewhale,

Thanks for posting in the Spotify Community, and welcome!

I moved your post from Chat to a relevant Help board, where it fits better.

Unfortunately, it’s an expected behavior for the web player not to have the full Settings menu that can be accessed from the Spotify desktop and mobile apps.

However, there’s currently a Closed Idea for bringing these same Settings options to the Web Player. While the status of this idea is currently “Closed - Not Enough Votes,” it can become an active idea again if it gains sufficient votes.

If it’s something you’re interested in, I would recommend adding your +VOTE to the idea. The more votes an idea gets, the likelier it is that Spotify will implement it; and you can read more about how feedback on ideas reaches Spotify here. You can also Subscribe to the idea by clicking the three dots next to its title; that way, you’ll be sure to be informed of any relevant updates.

In the meantime, if you have a supported device for the Spotify app and you haven’t done so already, I’d recommend installing the app for your device. Using the Spotify app, you’ll be able to access all the Settings options (such as toggling on/off Private Session, adjusting audio quality, setting a crossfade time, etc).

Let me know if you have any other questions, and have a good day!

i have the app, but am having the same problem. Other people have told me that they cant see who I'm following and I'm trying to change that. The problem is, when I go to settings, I don't see the right options. Please help

thanks, Julie

Hi @ChickenNuggetLuver,

Thanks for posting in the Spotify Community!

Can you send a screenshot of how your Settings appear on the desktop app? You can include the screenshot in your next reply by using the “Insert Photos” option in the post editor. Make sure to hide sensitive information when posting on the Community.

In the meantime, I suggest trying a clean reinstall by following these steps. This is more thorough than a normal reinstall, and can be useful to get rid of any cached files that might be causing trouble.

Also, if other Spotify users can’t see who you’re following, then you have that option disabled. Since you can’t access the right settings from the desktop app in order to enable this option, I would recommend enabling it from the mobile app by navigating to Spotify > Settings > Privacy > Followers & Following.

Thank you. Yeah, I realized they couldn't see my followers because it was
disabled but I couldn't get to the right settings and I don't have a phone.
That's why I'm doing this.

If I follow the steps you sent for the reinstall, will it delete things
like my playlists and such?

Thanks so much for your help

Hi @ChickenNuggetLuver,

Thank you for your reply!

No worries, you won’t lose any of your content by doing a clean reinstall; however, you’ll have to re-download any music for offline listening.

You can also try uploading your screenshot again as a jpeg/jpg file.

Let me know how it goes, as well as if you have any other questions.

Have a good day!
