So I've had this issue for a while. If you take a look at the picture, you can see that when I'm on my homepage, the first thing that pops up is the "ASMR with Amouranth" podcast.
First of all. I do not listen to podcasts and not plan on ever doing this. However, all I see on my homepage on my phone and iPad are podcasts. The first tab is "your shows" (on my pc I see this podcast as the first one and other random podcasts that are recommended). I listened to this podcast for literally 2 seconds, because I was curious what it was. Now, after 3 months, I still see this podcast as the first thing on my homepage.
My first question to the support team is, why is there not a way to customize your homepage? Literally all I have are random podcasts on my homepage. I have Spotify for music and not for podcasts, so I would like to add my own tabs, like for instance a genre and playlists.
I get that you guys have this layout for the homepage to recommend more artists to more people, but like please, let someone decide for themself whether they want certain catagories of music or podcasts on their homepage or not. For instance, with YouTube, on your own channel page, you can add and remove catagories like "most watched" and "most recently uploaded". On Spotify there is not a single customisation you can do to your homepage. Why is that?
Now what I'm mainly here for:
I have tried everything to remove the podcast. Next to the show there's a button to add more podcasts. When I add random podcasts, I can also remove those. However. With the "ASMR with Amouranth" podcast, I can add it, even though it's already for some reason and when I remove it, it stays there. I do literally the same thing as I do with random podcasts, but this one doesn't go away. I tried selecting everything as 'finished listening to' and doing the same as above, but that doesn't work. Selecting everything as not listened to also doesn't work.
HOW do I remove this podcast? I've tried literally everything.
Solved! Go to Solution.
Yet another strange thing is that some podcasts that I have been listening to on a daily basis for several months do not even show up on this so called "Your Shows" list, but some other shows that I just listen to for a few minutes stay there forever... How is this list even determined in the first place? Do some shows pay some fee to Spotify to get themselves pushed on the users' "Your Shows" lists?
Dear Moderator Jeremy,
You're talking about going here and "Upvoting" this idea so that Spotify implements this. Spotify already updated its status and here is what it says:
Really? Not right now? We premium users are paying to use this app and do not want "Your Show" or "Recommended for you" to be something that we don't want there. I feel like, the truth is that these poor podcasts are paying chunks of money to y'all to promote it as a recommendation. Interesting to see how you guys prefer audience before artists in this case, at least from premium users and maybe provide a better solution next time rather than asking people to vote for something that has already been concluded from Spotify's end.
Just stacking on this that I too think this is ridiculous. Another reason I'll likely move to Apple Music if this doesn't change.
I have a similar situation where I now have a podcast added in from using Shazam and having it "miss" on the song, and somehow match to a podcast. Not knowing it was a podcast and thinking I was going to sample the resulting Shazam match, I now have a podcast that I can't unfollow, and can't remove. It's a korean model on the artwork wearing _very_ little and I'm getting extremely frustrated with my inability to remove it from my home screen.

I used to find Spotify UI and aesthetics to be among the top of all the streaming services. That's why I'm astonished to see the product managers allowing the app to look like this for so long and take no actions on it. Brand image severely damaged and it's not even something you can simply restore by firing those PMs and reverting the change. I can't say no more other than SHAME.
having a similar issue where spotify thinks im a big fan of "therapy gecko". I have never listened to therapy gecko and its giant announcements for new episodes, shows people who listen to it like etc are seriously annoying.
Same here. There's a podcast on my home screen under "Your shows" that I can't seem to remove!
Spotify please fix this. ;(
I refuse to try another podcast on Spotify until this is fixed. I do not need daily reminders of podcasts I did not enjoy, thanks.
I just want to point out another issue that some seem to be ignoring. Spotify keeps telling us to vote on this ancient request -- and, for most of us, I don't think it is even what we're asking for!
I don't need to be able to "customize my start screen." That request that they want us to vote on seems to be more about changing the way that screen LOOKS. That's not what the OP here was talking about. Yes, SOME people here are talking about "suggestions" for things that they aren't interested in -- but that's a DIFFERENT issue than what OP was complaining about.
The original point of this thread was that someone watched a tiny piece of a podcast and it now permanently shows under "Your Shows." So, I don't need to be able to "customize my start screen" like what you're asking us to vote on is about. I just need to unsubscribe from a podcast so that it doesn't show up under "My Shows" because it ISN'T ONE OF MY SHOWS.
So, I'm frustrated by the repeated suggestions to vote on the "customize start screen" request when that is NOT what is being asked for by most of the people here. We just want to remove podcasts from "My Shows" that we don't listen to. Period. That has very little to do with "customizing a start screen".
Why does Spotify keep asking us to vote on a request that actually is NOT what the OP was asking about? We just want to remove things from My Shows that we have no intention of listening to ever again.
Same as the others, it's ridiculous that we can't remove items from "your shows". Very frustrating. Wouldn't this feature benefit both parties? Relevant contents... I thought it was just me not able to figure that out, bugged me for months. Trying the pro version but will cancel if Spotify keeps ignoring this.
PS: and on the mobile site I keep getting an error when trying to post the above.
This is a joke, all we got is 3 automated replies from moderator bots cuz i doubt a person can be this braindead, you lazy mother**bleep** came to work only to post this stupid copypasted reply and the walked out with smile on your ugly **bleep**ing disgusting face
Crackuser, that is exactly what i thought. It would be ridiculous if customer service would post 3 exact same messages, reffering to a multiple years old 'idea'. It is clear that Spotify is not taking it's paying members very seriously.
Me too, came to this topic because there are some vulgar thumbnails/titles on my homescreen. I love to put some music on, on the TV when i have guests over, but not anymore.
Spotify, please take your paying members a bit more seriously. If this takes much longer, i will unsubscribe my Family Premium membership and find another service. For now it seems to me that Spotify does not give a f**bleep** about paying members.
Strongly considering moving to a different service. Spotify's Apple-style (i.e. it is the way it is and you'll like it--no customization) is starting to get under my skin.
Not at all a satisfying answer, the "your shows" section is a joke and doesn't contain any shows I listen to regularly. Shows that I gave a chance and thought "this is not a good podcast" and yet I see it pop up first thing everyday on my Spotify home page. What a joke!
Having the same problem as well. A podcast that I never followed cannot be removed from my "Your shows" section. I even tried following and then unfollowing, to see if that would work, to no avail.
I'll admit I did listen to one episode, but the podcast as a whole isn't for me. And, I would prefer not to see it always showing up!! Totally agree with OP - this feature seems to be highly broken, and the feeble response from the Spotify moderator did absolutely nothing to address or answer the original questions/complaints.
Stop force feeding us podcasts! I don't use or want to use Spotify for podcasts but it takes up the real estate where I want my daily mix or recently played items to be. Let users configure their home screen! It feels like podcasts are some marketing person's pet project and we are being subjugated to this plan. Please let us remove categories that we don't want from our home screen.
