I was in a family plan for Spotify until I just noticed I could gain access to audio books if i made my own account so I decided to leave and join the student plan. Upon doing so I am still unable to gain access to the audio books I've checked all my devices, logged out and everything but the books still say they're locked, ive tried my iphone. mac and pc Im in canada. Any help would be really appreciated
I’m sorry you’re having trouble with the audiobooks. I don’t really get all the tech stuff, but it sounds like maybe there’s a glitch or something with your account switch. Have you tried reaching out to Spotify support? They might be able to help sort it out.
Hey @rongimelshtein,
Thanks for reaching out!
Note that audiobooks are currently only available to Premium Individual subscribers, and Duo and Family plan managers only. The reason why the audiobooks are locked when you try to access them is that you currently have a student discount activated. You can find more info here and you can still purchase audiobooks if you'd like.
@googabooga Thanks for jumping in with suggestions as well!
Hope this clears things up.

My Question or Issue
I no longer have access to Audio books even though my subscription is paid and current for my Premium Studnet Account? How do I resolve this issue?
Hi there,
So when I have a student premium account, I am unable to access audio books without purchasing them? I thought all of the perks of an individual premium plan were included in the student one as well?
I have this same issue, so does that mean only the premium family lead account can access audiobooks even though I pay for premium for all of the family?
Hey @Hjallen2797,
Thanks for posting your question on the Community!
If you're a part of a Family/ Duo plan, Audiobook hours will be available to the plan manager only. In case you wish to get listening time for a plan member, the plan manager can do so by taking advantage of the newly included Audiobook add-ons. Note that the feature is still being rolled out so it might still not be available in your region 🙂
Hope this clears things up! We're here for you if there's anything else in the meantime 🙌🏼
