[Chromecast] Playback halts after backwards seek, controlling from android

I'm playing on a first generation Chromecast, from the Android client. If I seek the track I'm playing backwards, say from 1:00 to 0:30, the track plays normally until it reaches the point I seeked from, at which point playback just halts. It's says that the state of playback is "playing", not paused or stopped. The time does not advance. No sound is played. This doesn't resolve until I manually seek past the sticking point, or change tracks. 

This has been around for quite a while now, and isn't affected by Chromecast or Android updates, Spotify updates, cache cleaning and so on.
