Chromecast long gaps between songs

I’m using Spotify on a Chromecast using an iPhone as a remote. This all worked perfectly until this weekend - there is now a 5 to 10-second gap between every song. Is anyone else having this problem? All apps up to date.

I have noticed long gaps and a lot of stuttering. I haven't had either in the recent past so I'm guessing an update gone wrong. This is streaming from an Andriod phone and a laptop.

I have tested this as well using both a Macbook Pro (2015) and Android phone (Moto X Pure Edition, version 6.0).

The screen looks like a single song, but I was playing them from an album. It takes about 5-6 seconds to start the play of each song.

Same issue here. Whether I cast to chromecast or TV from android phone or pc, same issue, it looks like the song starts (although it doesn't), and then 5 seconds ish later the sound actually comes out... not sure what's going on here.
