Chromecast stopping after 30 seconds

Connected to my Chromecast via a Nexus 5X, have tried iPhone 6s plus and songs seem to pause after about 30 seconds. Skipping ahead a few seconds fixes this, but it's rather annoying.

Tried rebooting the Chromecast, firmware seems to be up to date and both apps on both phones are up to date.

Any help would be appreciated!

any resolution here? i see a few of these same posts unanswered or even addressed over the last months... there are "multitudes" of these on the google products forum regarding spotify specifically....

just curious if this self resolved or what you did. i'm about ready to return mine.
