Denon AVR-X2100W - No Spotify Connect

Solved!

Denon AVR-X2100W - No Spotify Connect

Just purchased a new Denon receiver and everything is working OK except Spotify connect, it doesn't show as a device on the connect page. I can stream everything via AirPlay OK, but connect doesn't show. They are both running on the same network, but I wonder if there are any settings I need to consider for spotify specifically. I have tried searching the forums but haven't come up with anything so far. If anyone could point me in the direction of some help it would be much appreciated!

Newly released router update seems to have fixed problem.

Didn't fix problem.

Thanks for this helpful post. I had this problem a while back and then it seemed to fix itselt. But it came back about a month ago and I have not been able to use Spotify Connect without it cutting in and out every two seconds.

The solution was really simple in the end. Go to network settings on the Denon and turn DCHP off, then wait a couple of minutes. Then go to DCHP and turn it on. This fixed the problem instantly!

No need to open ports etc.

Your problem is different. I already use a dedicated IP address for my receiver. Problem was fixed with 3/27/17 Spotify update, then broken again by 4/3/17 Spotify update. Thanks, Spotify. 😒

The integration of Spotify Connect in my x1300w seems to be very unstable. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. And if it works -  the interface shows wrong/missing information and I am not able to use any of the controls shown (the music just keeps playing).

This is quite dissapointing as it is working well via the Chromecast attached to the AV receiver ... any ideas what I could try beside the steps shown on the Denon help page?

I am also having a problem with connect on my X1200W. Since the last firmware update, whenever I add a song to the queue, each song will pause with 0:00 time remaining. I need to "skip" each song. Very annoying. Already reflashed the firmware, reset router and receiver, no dice. Anyone the same issue?

This worked for me! Thanks man. Been driving me crazy for days

Having the same issue. I have an AVR-X1100W.

Receiver shows up as spotify connect device. When trying to play, the IOS app and MAC app both say connecting for some time, but nothing happens.

Tried all the above with my network connection etc....

This happens to me every now and then. I am quite sure it is an incompatibility between the Denon implementation of Spotify Connect and some quirks that get added whenever Spotify rolls out a new version. Normally after the next update everything works fine for some time and then the issue comes back. I am so fed up with this issue that I bought my daughter (owning a Denon Ceol N4) a Google Chromcast Audio just to go around it. I for myself settled for a Silvercrest smra 5.0 which basically is a Frontier Silicon Venice system rebranded by one of our local discunters, namely Lidl. Both of these systems work like charm, although the Silvercrest happens to go into hiatus when not used regulary (which happens everytime when the Denon Spotify client is working).

I’ve tried most of the suggested solutions in the thread (except reset) and it didn’t help.

However, reading mentioning of Multicast, I’ve changed my router Multicast Rate settings to OFDM 54.

That had immediate effect – Now the Spotify connect is working great!

I hope for some of you that might help 🙂

My Denon AVR-X2100W updated few days ago to firmware 3600-3161-6661. All i noticed is it got a different icon in the spotify connect menu... now my spotify client doesn't see the denon. Its on the network, available and everything.
Tried changing multicast settings, etc my android phone doesnt show the spotify connect button.
Is it just me or anyone else noticed this also?
There is something in the air... must be sound waves.

I checked the denon version online (terrible website, you have to enter the serial number to get the firmware page with changelog.

the DENON AVR-X2100W changelog states:

19.06.2017

Firmware Vers: 3600-3161-6661 (DZ17-022, AVRX2100WBKE2)

1) The Spotify Connect Server side of Spotify will be updated. So, the customer
will not be able to play Spotify after updating. (When updating the firmware
of the product, the customers currently using Spotify Connect can continue to
use the Spotify Connect function even after updating the Spotify Connect
Serve.)

I don't understand this. So the server side of Spotify connect will be updated and users won't be able to use Connect until they update firmware? Is that it?

That update was actually pushed out like 2 or 3 months ago. I am still on the previous version of the firmware (due to a bug in the current) and don't have any issues so far.

After the new firmware update, the x2100 appears in the Spotify connect menu, but the receiver won't connect. AirPlay still works. How can I revert to the old firmware?

Download the firmware from here http://firmware.denon.eu/. Put in on an USB drive (FAT16/32 formatted). Unplug the receiver from the ethernet/wifi. Turn it off (disconnect the plug), insert the USB stick, reboot the unit while pressing STATUS und TUNER PRESET +.

No guarantees though as firmware usually isnt really designed for downgrades.

I think I'll need to wait until I feel like pulling the unit out of its cubby so I can read the serial number. PITA. Maybe I copied the number somewhere so i don't have to. I'm pretty sure I tossed the box though. Maybe I'll just use airplay until Spotify brings the new server online or denon fixes their mess.

You can actually enter any number... as long as the field is not blank, it will let you continue.

yes

darn, I just upgraded my AVR-S910W firmware and Spotify doesn't work anymore. It used to work 'most' of the time, but now it doesn't work at all. It actually shows up on the iPhone app, but whe I try to connect it says "connecting" for a while and then it says "devices available". I have a Pioneer receiver (both wired network), which works fine, zero issues. Air-Play still works.
