Double meanings of "queue" in Spanish

Double meanings of "queue" in Spanish

Hello everyone!

I've seen in the pc app and in the web player phrases like "Tu cola está vacía. Buscar algo nuevo" (in English, "Your queue is empty. Try something new") or “Abrir cola" (in English, "Open queue”) and it seems to me that these phrases are quite close to homophobic discourse in certain regions or countries. This is due to the polysemy in Spanish of the term ‘cola’ (queue), whose most used meaning in most Spanish-speaking countries refers to that area where the back changes its name 😅. I think the error must have to do with some faulty translation and could easily be solved by changing ‘cola’ (queue) to ‘lista’: "Tu lista está vacía. Buscar algo nuevo" or “Abrir lista” don't hurt any sensibilities and I think they better represent Spotify's tone.

Best!

Thank you for your feedback!

This was reported internally, our teams will have a look. In the meantime, I'd suggest keeping the app
updated to make sure you don't miss anything.

Take care!
