Downloaded playlist will not allow me to switch songs on my apple watch

Downloaded playlist will not allow me to switch songs on my apple watch

As a Spotify Premium member, I have had a very frustrating persisting issue with downloaded playlists on my apple watch. Specifically, once I get to and finish the last song on my downloaded playlist in my apple watch, I am unable to further switch and listen to different downloaded playlist music or different music in that very same downloaded playlist. In effect, my apple watch spotify app is essentially frozen/fixated with the ending of that last song. Even if I turn off and restart my apple watch or refresh the watch app itself, spotify on my apple watch will not allow me to listen to any further music.

Hi there,

Thanks for posting in the Community and welcome!

To start, could you let us know if this happens only with downloaded content or even if you're streaming and have you tried any troubleshooting steps so far?

If you haven't already done this, I recommend removing the downloads and reinstalling Spotify from the Watch app on your phone > then downloading it again (as well as the content) to test if that'll make any difference with the playback.

Additionally, make sure you're on the newest software versions on your devices and check if Spotify has any pending updates

Keep us in the loop 🙂

Hi Ivelina,

Thanks for the reply.

To answer your questions, (a) this issue is only related to downloaded content, such that when I am connected to the internet the problem no longer persists; (b) I have tried to restart my apple watch, delete and reinstall the spotify app on both my apple watch and iPhone, but the problem persists; and (c) I have made sure that I am on the latest iPhone, apple watch, and spotify app, software versions. Unfortunately, the problem persists.

Thanks for the update, @KB99!

To further clarify, does the app on your Watch get stuck in one playlist and you're unable to play different songs from it or does it get stuck and you're also unable to play content from a different downloaded playlist?

If you haven't tested, I also recommend removing the downloads and then re-downloading them again as files can become corrupted and therefore playback issues may arise.

On another note, it'd be very helpful if you could send a video recording showing how things look like from your end and you can attach it via the Insert Video option in the post editor. If the attachment is too big, then I'd suggest that you upload it to Google Drive and share the link with us (make sure the video has the permissions for anyone to see it).

In addition to that, send us the Bluetooth device you're connected to and the Apple Watch model.

Hope to hear from you soon 🙂

Hi Ivelina,

To follow up:
(a) The app on my Watch becomes 'stuck' and so I am also unable to play content from a different downloaded playlist.

(b) I have attempted to remove the downloads and re-downloaded the files already.

(c) The Bluetooth device I connect my Watch device with is my apple airpods pro.

Hey @KB99,

Thanks for your reply.

We've tested this on our end, however, we couldn't reproduce the issue. Would it be too much to ask to unpair your watch and reset it to its factory settings as described here

Let us know how it goes.

i have the same issue

Hi there @PurpleFan,

Thanks for the reply. While the app should in theory scale indefinitely, the more content you have in your library, the more likely it is for technical issues to arise. The more you have, the more the performance is likely to degrade. If you really do have tens of thousands of liked songs, we recommend trying to downsize where possible or at least redistributing those tracks into playlists.

Hope this helps.

@Joan

it's very nice idea, but why should i do it? if in theory the app not limit me and on the iphone it's working great, so why not on the watch? all the issues started since the UI changes! when was the heart it's was much simple to everyone! but seems you don't care from the ppl that pay you every month!

another update for IOS still not resolve my issue with the watch
