Episodes for you showing disgusting contents on top of the app

My Question or Issue

My spotify app has been showing episodes for you with disgusting contents that I'm definitely not interested in on top of my screen. Please let me know how to remove those. I'm extremely annoyed by this.

Seriously Spotify? Do better. Over 5000 votes and you say “not right now”. No one should be forced to see explicit content. So many families and children use your app. If people want to listen to explicit talk shows or episodes let them search for it. Don’t use the excuse that it’s based on what we listen to because clearly that isn’t the case. We all call bs. My kids don’t need to see topless women with an explicit talk show about **bleep** right on the Home Screen on an app designed for listening to music.

I'm not remotely interested in the podcasts, in particular I'm repelled by Spotify endlessly promoting Alt Right nutters to the front of my Mac spotify application when all I want to do is listen to some music.  Please don't force me to dump your service and chose an alternative.

I want to get rid of this stuff.

On the music side, it's possible to go to an artist and select "don't play this artist". Extending that functionality to podcasts would already go a long way towards fixing this. I could hide all the alt-right wackjobs from my suggestions, others could hide the sexually explicit ones, and so on.

After a while, those choices would hopefully also affect the content that gets recommended to us – Spotify already knows how to recommend similar music, they should be able to take into account our negative preferences too, right?

None of this would even be in conflict with Spotify's current strategy of forcing podcasts down everyone's throat – it would just make those recommendations better. I won't be switching my podcast listening to Spotify anytime soon, but at least I wouldn't be annoyed and disappointed every time I open the app.

I really would like to have a button to even "refresh" Episodes for You to have new recommendations. I really feel uncomfortable seeing this every day I open Spotify app. And really? It's recommending me some crazy alt-right activist on my home page, just because I'm a man....?

Your recommendation engine is broken or seems to use inappropriate statistics outside Spotify. Anyway, it's absolutely rubbish for me.

Hey Spotify,

Please let me filter the "Episodes for you" list that you are pushing to me as I might start using it if those presented to me would be relevant. Why keep a feature that a lot of people find offensive and on top of the page. 

It really makes me angry to see "Introduction to Marxism" every day with a hippie picture of Marx. It only confirmed that the content is s,    h,    I,     t,   after I listened to it like the concept of Marxism it self. I really want to remove this entry so a more relevant one can be displayed.

First off, I enjoy being reminded to follow community standards when attempting to log a complaint about lewd content on my Home Screen put there by Spotify. 

My wife received this gem when picking up her 90 year old parents, “Slap me like the **bleep** I am” podcast displayed prominently on her Home Screen. 

I am having trouble coming up with a valid excuse Spotify would have as to why that content is there. The obvious answer is there is no excuse and whoever thought that a good idea should fired yesterday.  

if not fixed soon, we’ll be getting another service.  How this has continued for more than a day or two is beyond me.

This has been going on for a lot more than 2 days. People have been complaining about**bleep** for months now and Spotify have done **bleep** all about it. Having to see the same things I’m not interested in every day, every time I open the app is just crazy and the fact this was a feature in the first place makes me really question Spotify’s seriousness.

This is a really bad way to force people to use new the new feature with podcasts.

After pushing this soft *** to so many people, we were forced to look through the podcast sections and listen through a lot of different podcasts, just to tweak the engine in a different direction and not show this content (that however resurface from time to time). Now at least I no longer see the bad content on the main screen, but it was a lot of work to get it right.

We are paying customers for Spotify many or most of us commenting here. Treating customers this way is a really bad move. Another of these pranks means I will move to Apple music or anything else. And I am quite tempted already, it's probable that I will move over within the next month or two. Especially since integrations into the Apple ecosystem will be a lot easier for me.

I was kept from moving as I felt it was the right thing to do to stay. Now with this way of treating customers, I have reconsidered and view Spotify as a company differently than I did. Sorry. I had hoped that there would be a better reaction from Spotify–than to still, 6500+ upvotes later, consider the linked customer request "not right now".

The only thing that is keeping me now, is that I will need to convince the rest of the family to move over so that we get an Apple family plan instead, and to figure out if I want to lose/recreate the playlist history. Feels bad I have to for these reasons.

It’s been months and this disgusting thing is still showing on the home page. They are not taking any action at all. Let’s go to the App Store and report it, not acceptable when it says 12+ but showing 18+ contents on the homepage. Let the App Store take it down and push a fix.

For the first time in my Spotify life, I saw one content on my "episodes for you" with violent image and it's sitting at the top of my UI! There's no way to get rid of it, this is completely ridiculous and unacceptable. I don't even listen to podcasts, I only tried one or two for a few mins and that was it, and somehow Spotify decided that this disgustingly violent content is for me?!

That thread you want us to upvote is for home UI customization. I strongly think this should be undertaken under a separate category as I can understand why UI customization is "not for right now" because that can be a big undertaking for your dev team. But, as a customer, we should be able to mark a content that's not healthy for our own mind and sanity.

So please reconsider.

Same issue here it's a shame that Spotify won't do anything to correct this ,  I have a family plan and the disgusting contents shows on my page as well,  they should be a removed or request it be removed.

This should not be a requested feature, this is common sense.
