Feature Request: Music Play in Background (PS3)

It's kind of strange that we can't stream music from spotify on PS3. I just got it like 10 minutes ago for that exact reason, and I was pissed when it wasn't available. Is it possible to make it happen?

The PS3 does not support background audio. This is a limitation placed by Sony, and not Spotify.

Can sony do anythin about it or is it a way to srew us into buying the ps4.

Not really. When the PS3 launched, the OS used around 100 megabytes of ram. At the moment, that has been lowered to 50 megabytes. The original PS3 firmware is capable of playing all PS3 games offline. There is no reason why this original 50 my can't be used for music. 50mb is plenty for audio.

The original firmware also let you run Linux operating systems on it. Better than playing the PS3 itself because you can actually listen to Spotify and play some games at the same time 😝
