My Question or Issue

API calls to Spotify from Google Assistant die on the vine. I have tested with every Assistant device I have to the same end. If I say "Play something chill", my devices will respond "Sure, playing a playlist on Spotify called Chill Hits"......"Sorry, something has gone wrong"...."In a moment when you're ready, try again".

I've relinked my Spotify account, and I'm having no other issues on the Google Home devices. Nor am I having trouble playing or casting Spotify to any other device.

Also, what's up with the labels? Those are painfully non-descript and limited.

Hi there @

Thanks for reaching out about this in the Community!

Sorry to hear that you're having trouble playing tunes using the Google Assistant voice commands on your devices.

Can you try to clear the cache for Google Play and the Home app:

  1. Go to your mobile device settings.
  2. Tap on Apps & notifications
  3. Tap on See all apps
  4. Locate the Google app and Tap on it.
  5. Tap on Storage
  6. Tap on Clear cache.

Repeat steps for the Home app.

After that we'd recommend Logging out everywhere and clearing the cache of the Spotify app on your phone and log back in only on your phone. Try playing something through Google Assistant and let us know if you get the same result.

Also, does the same error appear if you try playing a famous song?

We'll be on the lookout for your reply. Cheers.
