Issue with Echo Connect

Solved!

Issue with Echo Connect

Last week my Echo in my kitchen broke. It's name was "Küche". I got a replacement and also called it "Küche". Then something weird happend.  The old device shows up in Spotify like "Küche)(&(/%/=/)=(&(%"  now (see attached picture). I logged every device off through the website, I deactivated the Alexa Skill but I can't get rid of this weird device. I need assistance.

Echt dot 4th gen without clock here

Hey @Eisnah3204,

Thank you for posting those steps that helped other users. Let's see what we can do to help you out.

To everyone experiencing issues with this, we recommend the following troubleshooting steps:

  1. Unlink your Spotify and Amazon accounts in the Alexa app.
  2. This page lists the necessary steps for Spotify.
  3. Restart all devices and leave them for a couple of seconds with the power off. This is a simple, but often overlooked step.
  4. Connect your accounts again using the steps here

This should do the trick. Hope this clears things up. Don't hesitate to reach out again if you have questions.

hello @Novy

I did this like several times already. Unlinked Alexa access, uninstalled the app, cleared the cache, checked from the browser, restarted the router and whatnot..
It‘s all mentioned in the linked post.

The support just recommended creating a new account, which I refused.
If Spotify would just give us the option to edit the "Connect" device list would solve it.

See comment from user @balupton-new in the below post, issue is several years old and ongoing.

Hey folks,

Thanks for reporting this issue.

We can forward this to the teams in charge so they can investigate further. In order to do so, could you provide the following info if you haven't already:

  • The firmware version running on the affected Echo devices along with their exact model.
  • The app version you're currently running.
  • A screenshot where we can see the two entries for the speaker.

We'll be on the lookout.

Thanks for your patience while the right teams are looking into this.

Could you confirm if you're still experiencing this issue? If so, are you using device aliases?

Keep us posted!

Hey @Novy

Thanks for keeping this topic updated. Yes, the problem still exists.

I don‘t really know what you mean by Device Aliases. The name of the speakers is set in the Alexa App.

Best Regards

My Question or Issue

For some reason, everytime my Echo Dot is unplungged from its power cable it is shown as a new device inside Spotify. I can't forget the older duplicates, nor can I connect to them. I currently have 3 copies of "My name's Echo Dot" listed. What can I do so that it is listed only once, as expected?
