Joe Rogan podcast doesn't work with VPN

Spotify doesn't seem to like the use of VPN for this podcast. I am connected to a United States VPN server and I either get:

1. An error saying the video is not available in my area, and doesn't even play the audio of the podcast.

2. Stuck in loading perpetually, till I quit the app, disconnect VPN and start spotify again.

I am connected to a Japan server and have problem no. 2 as if they require you to surrender your geolocation for this.
