Keep Filters and Scroll Position When Returning to "What's New"

Keep Filters and Scroll Position When Returning to "What's New"

When browsing What's New with the music-only filter applied, tapping into a release and then going back resets both the filter and the scroll position. This forces users to reapply filters and scroll from the top, which breaks the flow. Preserving these states would greatly improve navigation and user experience.

Hey there @lucideyez,

Welcome to the Community!

Could you let us know if this behavior persists across devices? If it's a specific device, feel free to send us the make, model, OS-version and Spotify-version you're using.

If you've not tested this already, I recommend giving the app a clean reinstall with the steps here, as they also include clearing the cache which can cause different performance issues when it's corrupted.

Thanks and we'll be on the lookout.

Hi Ivelina, thanks for your response.

I initially assumed this was a design limitation rather than a malfunction, but to clarify: I’ve tested this on two different Windows 10 PCs and on a MacBook, all running the latest version of the Spotify desktop app, and the issue persists across all of them. Interestingly, the iOS app behaves as expected — it remembers both the filter and the scroll position when returning to the What's New feed.

So it doesn’t seem to be a local issue, but rather an inconsistency in how the desktop app handles navigation state. I hope this helps clarify the situation.

Hey @lucideyez,

Thanks for getting back to us!

Make sure to let us know the exact Spotify version you're currently running, along with the exact OS version on your MacBook.

Also, could you send over a video or a screen recording of the issue? We were able to partially replicate it, so we'd like to see how things look from your end. You can attach it to your next response or upload it to another platform like YouTube or Google Drive and send a link to it. Be sure to hide any personal or sensitive information, and to give it the relevant permissions if you decide to upload it somewhere else.

Keep us posted.

Hey, just checking in—how’s the investigation going? I’ve just checked again and the issue still seems to be there.

Hey @lucideyez,

Thank you for your patience

We can confirm that the internal teams are currently aware of this behavior and they'll work on a solution for it, but we don't have a specific date for this to be resolved, we hope it will be as soon as possible.

At the moment, we'd recommend having your Spotify app updated, so you don't miss any improvements coming your way.

Thank you again for your resort and patience. If anything else comes up, don't hesitate to ask.
