My Question or Issue

I was reorganizing my Spotify Playlists and upon clicking on one of the folders, my entire Library disappeared.
I've not been able to fix this issue, and I've tried the following things.

Deleting Browsing Data

- Browsing History

- Download History

- News Usage Data

- Cookies and Other Site Data

- Cached Images and Files

- Site Settings

- Hosted App Data

Upon doing this, my Library is brought back, but as soon as I click on the Playlists folder, it disappears again. I don't know what's causing this.

Restore My Playlists doesn't work because the playlists aren't deleted, they're just not showing up on the tab at all.

Any advice? Thanks.

Hey there @ElysianEyes,

Thanks for posting in the Community and welcome.

Kudos for all the troubleshooting you've tried so far! In this case, you can also try clearing the hosts files. You can follow the steps in this article to do it.

If the above doesn't do the trick, we'd like to gather some additional info:

  • Does this happen if you use a different browser such as Chrome or Edge?
  • Do you use a VPN service? If yes, try switching it off. Keep in mind Spotify doesn't officially support VPN. This means that issues while using VPN are expected behavior.
  • Did you notice if this started to happen after a specific event such as an OS update?

Hello, and thank you for your quick response.

I've followed all of your suggestions and did the following:

Checked the host files. But found nothing out of the ordinary.
Installed Edge and Chrome for more troubleshooting...

Unfortunately, the issue still persists on both Edge AND Chrome.

I don't use a VPN and this issue didn't happen after an OS update.

In fact, one of the first things I did while trying to fix the issue was restart (and update) my laptop.
Unfortunately, even that didn't work.

The only work around I've found is accessing the playlists on my phone, but other than that...

It seems all versions of Web Browser refuse to show me my Playlists folder.

Issue Update: This problem seems to happen with EMPTY FOLDERS as well!

Hey there @ElysianEyes,

Thanks for your reply and for all the info you kindly sent us.

In this case, we'd like to continue gathering info to see if we can isolate this behavior furter. Does this happen:

  • If you use the desktop app? It'd be awesome if you could install it and check.
  • On a different account? You can create a free test account to check if you find this behavior there as well.
  • On a different computer?  You can ask for the computer of a relative or a friend to open your account there and check.

This way, we'll check if this might be account or device related.

You can also send us a video recording of what's happening on your side. You can attach the video in your next reply in mp4 format, or you can also upload it to YouTube or Google Drive and make it public, so we can visualize it.

Keep us in the loop!

Desktop App works as intended, but I really do prefer the Web Browser.
The issue still happens on another account.
And surprisingly enough... it DOES happen on a friend's computer when using Chrome Web Browser.

I've found a workaround on PC but it's... not ideal.
In order for me to be able to access my playlists and have them properly open, I MUST click the small arrows to open the collapsible folders. But if I misclick, and end up clicking the folder. It'll go back to the Library-less state, in which I'll have to reset the "Usage" in the Privacy & Security Settings that Opera provides.

I'll provide a link to the MP4 via Google Drive as the Maximum Size is much too small for me to attach to this post.

Hey @ElysianEyes,

Thank you for keeping in contact and for the info shared.

To continue investigating this, it would be great if you could have someone log in with their account on your PC - such as a friend or a family member, to see if the Web Player shows the same behavior.

Also, since this could be related to network permissions as well, could you check if using a different Wi-Fi network makes any difference? If you don't have another one available, you can use a mobile data hotspot just to test it.

Let us know how it goes.

I don't have the option to do either of those right now, given my mobile data plan is too weak where I'm at and I have no other access to any other Wi-Fi. I also don't think it's the Wi-Fi, because I'm PRETTY sure it was working earlier and has worked in the past. I'm going to try shutting down my computer entirely, because I have no other ideas as of right now, but I'm pretty sure that won't work either.

On web player, my entire sidebar won’t load: I can’t access “Your Library”, my playlists, my albums, my liked songs, etc. I can access a few of my playlists through my profile, but it only shows me ten of them, and I have about two hundred. The whole thing is just blank. I’ve emptied my cache and cleared my browsing data, and it appeared again when I first logged in, and then as soon as I tried to click through to a playlist, it disappeared and won’t return even if I log out and log back in.

My browsing data is cleared, and I’m not using an adblocker or a VPN, so I don’t know what’s happening. I can’t use the app due to storage space on my laptop, so I can’t use the app instead.

I'm a premium user who's experienced this problem on Chrome on two different computers! Also had the same issue where the sidebar appeared again after emptying my cache, then disappeared as soon as I clicked a folder.

(To be clear: two different computers in different locations, with different WiFi networks.)

Just want to let you know this issue is still ongoing.

Logged in on web player, it showed for 1 sec and then disappeared completely.

No matter how much I move that GUI panel nothing appears in it.

Update:
Given it's the next day, I've been able to get my friend to log in on my computer. The issue STILL persists.
I've also been able to test it on a friend's Mobile Hotspot... The issue STILL persists.

So from my understanding, here's a basic summary of the issue as a whole.

Clicking on a Folder on Spotify's Web Browser will cause the entire Library to disappear. No matter what PC, Browser, Network, or Account is used.

And a summary of troubleshooting methods that haven't worked;

Restarting or shutting down the PC, logging out and logging back in, closing the browser, using other browsers, clearing any sort of data (be it cookies, cache, or browsing history), checking host files, using other networks, or using other PCs.

With the addition of other users reporting the same issue, this seems to be on Spotify's side (specifically their Web Browser) rather than the user's side.

My Question or Issue

Yesterday I was organizing playlists on the browser. As I was moving a playlist to a newly created folder, all of my playlists disappeared and I have not been able to figure out how to make them reappear.

The playlists are not deleted because they show up on my Spotify phone app, even after multiple attempts signing out and back in.

Hi @ByMySword, welcome to the Spotify Community!

We understand you'd like to have your playlist back, so lets get to the bottom of this!

You mentioned you did this from the Web player, so we'd like to confirm if after adding the playlists to the folder all other playlist outside the folder also disappeared, or if you can see your other playlist in your library, but when opening the folder you created it shows empty. If you could send us a screenshot or screen recording of how the Web player looks from your end, it'd be really useful (Just make sure to hide any private info like your username).

On another note, try opening the Web player from a different internet browser or a incognito window to see if it makes any difference.

Lastly, to make sure everything is fine with your account, can you try using the desktop app to see if your playlist are missing from there as well?

We'll be waiting for your response.

This is what it looks like. I can find playlists if I search them,  but none of them display in my library to the left. Neither the folder I was editing nor any other folder or playlist I have.

I have tried different Google accounts but its the same, however I just tried incognito and and with the Microsoft Edge browser and my playlists show up on both of those attempts.
