Neil Young > Joe Rogan

Neil Young > Joe Rogan

Please consider keeping Neil Young instead of Joe Rogan. The amount of covid-related misinformation, misogyny, and vitriol that Joe Rogan produces is not productive and is not something I will listen to on Spotify. However, Neil Young is a music LEGEND and has a significant fan following (none of which applies to Joe Rogan). If keeping one or the other, the choice is clear -- keep Neil Young and dump Joe Rogan.

@birdofparadox   hi there.  ah.. "wafer-thin veneer of 1st amendment rights" 9/10 for writing skills i'll give you that.  I'd argue though, that you are uncomfortable with hearing evidence given by professional guests that air on Joe Rogan's show.  Perhaps you are only happy sticking with CNN  (exposed for lying by Project Veritas who took them to court multiple times and won) et al, and want every one else Cancelled if their views differ from your own, including views from practicing scientists and medical doctors.

@deanveggy: I'm focusing on your choice of words:  "evidence"?  Someone saying something on a podcast does not make it evidence.

As a Spotify premium subscriber for 5+ years, I'm growing increasingly disgusted with Spotify for their ongoing deal with the Joe Rogan show. I'm beginning to feel like just by being a premium subscriber, I'm supporting misinformation entertainment on a broad swath of serious topics: climate change, Covid-19, and more. I urge Spotify to reconsider their deal with the Joe Rogan show.

This should not come down to an issue of "Joe Rogan vs. Neil Young."  Neil Young should not enter into it at all (although, I do applaud him taking a stand against Rogan's misinformation).  This is a question of Spotify doing the right thing with or without Neil Young's position...or the position of ANY artist.  Come on, Spotify, do the right thing.

I've been a Spotify premium member for many years. To witness that Spotify prioritizes the speeches of a far-right loudmouth over the rich music legacy of Neil Young is outrageous. Time to cancel subscription and move to Pandora.

I am cancelling spotify after 5 years.

Neil Young's music is timeless.

Joe Rogan is gross. I will not support him. Spotify is literally making the wrong choice because they paid him too much, and caving to the ferral right is such a bad look.

Back to deezer I guess.

Also, I reallly HATE taylor swifts music but just wait until she start pulling her music.

Joe Rogan - a literal meat head is NOT worth £100million or the people that hes helped to indocrinate.

Friend, Joe Rogan is shouting”Fire!” in a crowded theater. People are dying. Free speech - like all of our rights - has limits and comes with responsibilities. And besides,  Spotify is not the government and is not subject to constitutional prohibitions on censorship. At the very least they could take down the most troubling episodes. They can make a choice, and they have made it: profits over people. History will not judge them well.

Spotify should be ashamed of themselves for promoting vaccine misinformation via the Rogan podcast. It is criminally irresponsible of them.

In "normal" times, I would agree that Rogan has right to voice his idiotic opinions, and a forum interested in the free distribution of ideas might consider giving him space to do so.  BUT, these are not "normal" times.  Rogan's statement that young people *should not get vaccinated* threatens the life and well-being of not only the people that refuse the vaccine as a result, but everyone they come in contact with.  By extension, it actually threatens the health, well-being, and prosperity of the entire world.  If there is a better example of "falsely crying fire in a crowded theater,"  I don't know what it would be.

Spotify's decision to host Rogan's podcast is, imho, criminally negligent.  It shows, sadly, how quickly a startup with a lot of new innovative ideas, and interest in doing good for the world, can become corrupted by corporate greed.  I will definitely be canceling my paid subscription when it comes up for renewal if Rogan and his ilk are still on spotify at that time.

Keep Neil Young. The Spotify experience is greatly reduced without Neil's music.

Spotify pay artists some of that Joe Rogan money

-removed-

I don't really care about all this, but today on my spotify homepage there were 3 albums recommended to me all

Neil Young and all not playable. What a cluster F.

I signed up for premium specifically because Spotify is not caving to the <1% of the population crazies above. Normal people don't think Joe is a misogynist, racist, homophobe, or far-right. Normal people do not accuse everyone they disagree with of being far-right.

What normal people really are is the bulk of spotify's subscriber base, just look at Joe Rogan's ratings vs CNN or MSNBC; he's CRUSHING them. All these fake progressives can't see that Joe is one of the best things out there for the left; honey vs vinegar. Besides all of this, money always wins, and now they can have some of mine. You don't like it cancel, and stop whining. You're as relevant as Niel Young

**bleep**. Ridiculous.

Theyve handled this extremely appallingly.

Worrying.

what a joke

Absolute mess

Cancel Joe Rogan and let him live with Alex Jones

+1

I would much rather listen to Neil Young than Joe Rogan. I never heard of Joe Rogan until recently. He doesn't seem to add anything useful to our culture, other than trying to harm it.

Get Neil Young back dump Rogan!

It was a stupid idea from the start to stream podcasts. It's not easy to monitor all those podcasts. Racist, fascist etc. points of view will slip through. Some people predict that after Young artists like Taylor Swift, Adele, Beyonce etc. will leave. Make only streaming music the business model. I was shocked to read that Spotify paid 100 milion for Rogan. I think Spotify badly needs new management .
