Neil Young > Joe Rogan

Please consider keeping Neil Young instead of Joe Rogan. The amount of covid-related misinformation, misogyny, and vitriol that Joe Rogan produces is not productive and is not something I will listen to on Spotify. However, Neil Young is a music LEGEND and has a significant fan following (none of which applies to Joe Rogan). If keeping one or the other, the choice is clear -- keep Neil Young and dump Joe Rogan.

I have been a premium level member of Spotify since just about day 1.  I listen to Spotify for Music, all kinds of music genre. If Spotify begins to drop artists, over Joe Rogan comments, comments that may not have merit and not validated, it might be necessary for me to consider other options, which there are other options.

I have never listened to Joe Rogan, and have no interest in his program.  His ongoing commentary has sparked a wildfire regarding Covid 19.  From published articles about his commentary, his commentary purportedly does not seem to have any basis of science, seems to be counterproductive to the world health issues we all are facing, and certainly has inflamed the medical community with interpreted mis-information.  

I listen to all types of music and some of Neil Youngs music is in my playlists.  I see there are other artists also getting in line to drop Spotify, and probably others who have not yet publicized their intent have their music removed from Spotify, this could be a domino effect. 

Freedom of speech is important in this country, USA, while we still have some of it left.  These artists likely may not return, even if Spotify were to drop Joe Rogan.  Where does this leave me, as a premium member?  I have to exercise my freedoms, my freedom of choice with music services.  I would speak with my monthly premium membership fees, and I think you might see where this has the potential of going to go.

Spotify simply needs to spin off their podcast streams to another app, like "Nazi-fy". Who is gullible enough to listen to Rogan in the first place? He's an expert at what exactly? He is apparently a high school graduate

@Rob_in_TX, this has nothing to do with censorship. Before Spotify made a $100 million deal with Rogan, you could listen to him for on many different platforms for free. Spotify has only made it harder and more expensive to hear Rogan... But I guess you're just gonna continue to regurgitate right-wing talking points.

That's nonsense and you know it.  It's the same "look at those people trying to kill grandma" garbage we've heard from the beginning.  Which is self is a form of "won't someone think of the children".  I'm sure that latter trope isn't used only because our children are the last thing that's been thought of this entire time.  At any rate, Rogan is having mature intelligent conversations on complex topic and giving audience to those who mainstream interests wish to otherwise silence.  These aren't cut and dry issue! The so called authorities have messed up on a massive scale and you think Joe Rogan is the problem.  Pahleeese!

Moreover, I'm not going to be lectured by a guy who sings about having heroin needles hanging out of his arm!  Neil Young doesn't know the first thing about Covid he's just acting out on the same simpleminded trash as you!  That makes him a useful apparatchik not some principled artist as you'd like to think.

This has a lot to do with free speech even if it's not Neil Young's intent.  Just watch as other grossly misinformed artists jump on the band wagon.  That's how cancel culture works and free speech dies the modern way!  Moreover, it's all beside the point having a discussion regarding contrarian view is not equivalent to spreading misinformation.  That is such a juvenile view of anything that happens on the Rogan show as to be insane!  As such Neil Young's entire premise is fallacious and so is your support of it.  If you are going to say it's not about free speech you should ask yourself what happens what happens when these conversations don't happen. Firstly it doesn't mean fewer people will die from covid.  What happens when the contrarian view is the correct view?  Consult your nearest history book (if it hasn't been rewritten yet) to find out.

"Freedom of speech" is not protection from people reacting to what you say.  If you walk into a biker bar and yell "You're all ugly and you smell bad", there is no First Amendment challenge when you get your ass kicked.

People saying they will withhold their money from a service because they don't support spreading dangerous lies is actually libertarian free-market economics by the book.  Free speech has nothing to do with it.
