New Metal Tracks **Still** Not Updating Properly

The New Metal Tracks playlist has been malfunctioning now for at least a month or so. New tracks - if they're added - do not appear in any logical order; half the time there's only one or two new tracks added (again, if we're lucky) while the rest of my playlists (Release Radar, for example) and some of those I'm not following do not suffering from the same neglect. This has already been brought up in a previous thread:

https://community.spotify.com/t5/forums/v3_1/forumtopicpage/board-id/001/page/1/thread-id/186089

No resolution was reached. In fact, the only contact from anyone affiliated with Spotify was the original from MattSuda at the top of the thread.

My Home screen has become increasingly cluttered with music and playlists in which I have no interest, despite much ado about "taste, data, research, and trends." Speaking of, allow me to direct your attention to Spotify's own research highlighting which genre has the most loyal listeners:

https://insights.spotify.com/us/2015/04/02/loyalest-music-fans-by-genre/

As one of those loyal listeners, and a Premium member for years now, I'm disappointed that this playlist and this genre doesn't seem to matter all that much to the Spotify team. Before the outright neglect that's been reported for weeks now, several songs appeared on the playlist that had no business there, like Nickelback's "Feed the Machine." You don't have to be a metal elitist to listen to that song and identify which genre it belongs to, or at least which genre it doesn't. And if its inclusion was a result of "trends" and the automatic mechanisms thereby hinted at, I can only restate how much disregard and apathy that implies toward the playlist and the genre as a whole (a genre that, you will recall, represents one of Spotify's most loyal demographics).

So with all that in mind, I look forward to Spotify correcting this issue. Or - at the very least - posting an explanation in the interim while a solution is reached.

Thank you.

is it going to be fixed though ?

thats all I want to know, if its going to be fixed now that we have finally had someone see these posts (there are other posts complaining about this with no answers)

I agree, this answer doesn't really explain much. I get what the problem is, but Spotify haven't said if they're actually going to fix it.

By the way, if anyone is desperate for a reliable replacement, I've recently discovered the playlist "Metal Music Friday - Best NEW Metal Tracks". That appears to be a good alternative for the time being. That said, I only discovered it a couple of days ago so I can't vouch reliable they are long-term (though anything's better than the Spotify equivalent right now!)

We have 3 new tracks in the new track playlist ...... the new thy art is murder track isnt on there, the new dying fetus track isnt on there, the new septicflesh track isnt on there, thats just bands that I follow.

I give up.

Love the site though! Didn't knew it (I only listen to metal, I don't hang around in the scene), so thanks for that!

As far as I can see they have stopped adding the same songs onto the playlist and now they are only adding new tracks, thats the main thing I wanted but they have only added 3 tracks, not like the amount we use to get.

Given how much new metal has actually been released since this problem started, and how much of it doesn't appear anywhere near this playlist, it's still not fixed by any reasonable standard and Spotify could clearly not care less. I'll be creating a Google Play Music playlist of my own and link it here shortly after canceling my Spotify subscription, stay tuned if you're interested. I encourage you all to stop giving Spotify your money but, again, they don't give a **bleep** so it won't make a difference. At least it'll feel better than waiting around for another non-answer about a fix they're not implementing.

Oh and they censor swear words? Jesus. This mother**bleep**ing bull**bleep** just keeps getting better and **bleep**ing better.

I'm also cancelling my Spotify subscription and will give Google Play a go. I have heard good things about it, so time for a change. I'm fed up of giving Spotify my money, when it clearly doesnt give a darn. Shame.

Look forward to your playlist on the other side, Ben...

Hey!

Thanks for reaching out on the Community. We really appreciate your updates and feedback on this.

Rest assured we've passed all of your comments onto the right team, and we're thankful for you sharing your thoughts.

Although the playlist doesn't fully refresh every week, we understand you'd like to see more new songs added and we've let the team know about this.

All the best,
/L

it's .... it's fixed .... I think they listened, it worked.

Looks like they are updating it with new tracks as soon as they come on spotify. They seem to be updating it with all kinds like they use to, they even put party cannon on. Im happy now, everythings back to normal, thanks for fixing it if you're listening/reading.

Yup, also happy with the new list, seems to be working again, rejoice!

(it's also great that I can finally stop offering slaughtered goats to Satan to fix this issue, it was getting kinda messy in the house and my wife wasn't really a big fan of this approach, hence)

Agreed...looks to be back to the way it was.

Thanks for listening to your audience, Spotify! Kudos!

Hey, is it just me, or are we back to square one again? The playlist is updated, but most of the tracks are from previous weeks :'( Anyone else suffering (yes, suffering!) from this?
