My Question or Issue

Starting today I have noticed that on my Spotify home page any podcasts show the new episode notification (little blue dot). Normally when I select a podcast with this notification the next time I go back to the home screen the notification is gone. Now however, I can find no way to clear these notifications. Even though I have listened to the most recent episodes of the several of these podcasts, they all continue to show the new episode notification. Also when I select one of these podcasts, it now takes me to a the most recent unlistened to episode in their episode list, even if it's a year old, instead of taking me to the top of the episode list.

I have tried clearing my cache, but it did not help.

Hi there @okhe3-bpt_tb,

Thanks for reaching out. We'll be glad to help you get the podcasts working as usual.

This is quite odd and we haven't seen any reports about this so far. Could you please provide us the following:

  • Is this on all devices or only on specific one(s)? What about the web player
  • Does this affect all podcasts?
  • Did the first occurrence of the issue happen after an update to the device or app?

With this information, we’d be happy to investigate.

Keep us posted.

Happening to me too. For the last week or so. Shows a new episode dot on homepage, but I'm all up to date and it doesn't go away.

No recent updates that I know of.

Happens on both Android phone app, and my Mac desktop app.

Right now there's only 1 podcast in there, but when there's more, it seems to apply to them as well.

Hey there folks,

Thanks for posting in the Community and welcome.

@okhe3-bpt_tb, @AdventureAwaits12, we could replicate this behavior. We've gone ahead and passed this important info onto the right team. We'd like to gather some additional info. Please send us:

  • The exact make/model and OS of the affected devices.
  • The exact Spotify version you're running on your devices.
  • Did you notice if this started to happen after a specific event such as an OS update?

Keep us in the loop!

Same issue here. It mostly seems to be happening with one specific podcast for me (Dear Hank and John) but occasionally with others. I'm running a Pixel 7a with Spotify version 9.0.20.604 and Android 15. It's been happening for roughly the last 2-3 weeks.

Same happening here for a couple of

weeks now. iPhone 13 mini with iOS 18.0.1 and Spotify 9.0.22

Same problem here, iPhone 11 Pro, ios 18.3.2, Spotify 9.0.28.607.

Hey folks,

Thanks for all your replies here.

Some changes have been implemented backstage, so this should be fixed now. Make sure you're running the latest version available. If this issue persists after updating the app, please send us:

  • The make/model and OS of the affected devices.
  • The exact Spotify version you're running there.

Keep us in the loop!

Still happening. iPhone 14 Pro. iOS 18.4. Spotify 9.0.32.

every podcast shows the new episode Blue dot. The recent ones have been played, and when you click it, it takes you to a year plus old episode you haven’t listened to.  Every time you click it it scrolls way down in the past.

happening on pixel 9, spotify 9.0.40.391, android 15

Happening to me to on an iPhone 12 with iOS 18.4.1 and the latest Spotify update. Like other users reported for me it only happens for specific podcasts.

Still seeing this issue and checked latest iOS version is installed

Hey folks,

Thanks for the reports here! So we can look into this further with our teams, it would be great if you could send us a few more details:

  • Links to a few podcasts that you've noticed this behavior with.
  • Screenshots showing how things look on your end (just make sure it doesn't include any personal info).
  • Exact Spotify version after updating the app.

We'll keep an eye out for your replies & pass the info onto our tech folks.

Cheers!

Happening for me still on Samsung Z Flip 4 latest update. Happening on Moral of the Story and Rotten Mango

This is happening for me too

Still happening to me. Up until now only with "churros y tacticas" podcast where when I clicked on the notification, it took me to the episode way back in 2023 when I hadn't started listening to them yet. But now, it's happening with another podcast too, starting yesterday. The issue has been going on for last 2-3 months as per my memory. Could be older too.

My Question or Issue

There are a lot of bugs with the “new podcast episode” blue dot on the homepage.

1. the new ep dot is showing on podcasts where I’ve already listened to the newest episode.

2. The dot shows on podcasts that haven’t had new episodes in many months.

happens across many many podcasts (not just a few).

it’s really annoying and makes me select and search for my favourite podcasts even though there’s nothing new. It completely the defeats the point of the feature.

I have this issue.

  • Blue Dot shown when ANY podcast has unplayed episodes.
  • Opening any of the pods will jump down to first unplayed episode, even if the that's last year.

  • iPhone 13, iOS 18.5
  • Does this affect all podcasts? -- YES
  • Did the first occurrence of the issue happen after an update to the device or app? -- UNKNOWN, this year?
  • The exact Spotify version you're running there. -- 9.0.54.640
  • Thanks for having a look at this issue.

I have listened to the latest Brad pitt episode on F1- Beyond the grid, yet it shows green button above. However once I click on podcasts followed home page, it doesn't appear like it.

Somehow this not viewed on home screen is causing confusion for me
