Podcast episodes on homescreen constantly showing new episode notification

My Question or Issue

Starting today I have noticed that on my Spotify home page any podcasts show the new episode notification (little blue dot). Normally when I select a podcast with this notification the next time I go back to the home screen the notification is gone. Now however, I can find no way to clear these notifications. Even though I have listened to the most recent episodes of the several of these podcasts, they all continue to show the new episode notification. Also when I select one of these podcasts, it now takes me to a the most recent unlistened to episode in their episode list, even if it's a year old, instead of taking me to the top of the episode list.

I have tried clearing my cache, but it did not help.

I'm on android and latest version and it's been doing this for at least a year, it so annoying. My flow is often to find a new episode in my podcast section before I go for a run or workout, now I have to spend a lot time just weeding through all he fake notifications. I'm on galaxy z flip 5 and Spotify version 9.0.64.608
