Podcast history has been cleared?

I have been listening to a lot of ‘Smosh Reads Reddit Stories’ and today my listening history has been cleared and I don’t know why.

None of the episodes show they have been ‘played’. I was randomly picking episodes so this is quite disappointing. All other podcasts show my listening history except this one.

The same thing happened to me and my friend! Our Smosh Reads Reddit Stories listening history is gone, even though all other podcasts are the same. 

Also yesterday evening I went to play the podcast and it kept saying “not found” or something similar as if it wasn’t on the platform anymore. And I couldn’t access any of my downloaded Smosh episodes or the podcast page at all. Then I looked a few hours later and the podcast page was back but all of my listen history was gone.

As both of you are reporting issues with the same podcast, it would be great if you could send us some more details, so we can look into this a bit further with our teams 🙂

Would you mind letting us know if it appears in the same way on all devices that you use Spotify on, or just with a specific one?

Also, if you have certain episodes which you know that you've listened to, but that are now marked as Unplayed - a screenshot showing how it looks for you would be helpful.

@mbru55 - as you mentioned this also happened to your friend, feel free to guide them to this thread too, so they can post their details as well (if they'd like).

Same thing happened to my listening history for this same podcast, it’s definitely not just these two.

I am also experiencing the same thing, my listening history for "Smosh Reads Reddit Stories" have been completely wiped, even though I have listened to all the episodes. The same thing happened to my listening history for their other podcast "Smosh Mouth", but not to any other podcast I listen to. It is both like this on my phone and computer.

**bleep** same here with the same podcast!!!!! i’m so upset because there were a bunch of episodes i had yet to finish from idek when and now i don’t remember which ones i have or haven’t listened to 😞

I've had the same experience with this exact podcast. Every other podcast is fine.

Same here. Only Smosh Reads Reddit Stories played history is wiped..rest of the played history is available

Same thing happened to me with smosh podcast. It took away all my watch history!

We appreciate you posting your info in this thread.

The teams investigated and it looks like the podcast creator made some changes that affected listening history, so past progress on episodes isn’t showing anymore. We're afraid, there’s no way for Spotify to restore it.

I also noticed this happened to me with smosh reads reddit too back a few months ago & i see the update that says they changed something which deleted the history

More recently i just had this happen with the casefile true crime podcast as well. Is this the same root cause?
