My Question or Issue

Podcasts show playing two chapters playing at once. Often times this also shows incorrect timestamp of podcast. Has happened for months via multiple uninstalls and new versions of the app. See screenshot

Fyi this is why I don't pay for Spotify ridiculous errors never ever fixed. For simple functionality.

My Question or Issue

Hey @elmerpuddy, thanks for reaching out to the Community!

Can you try a clean reinstall of the app following these steps? If that doesn’t work, can you let me know the name of the podcast and episode you’re referring to, and screenshots indicating both the correct and incorrect runtimes - this way I can take a closer look. Make sure to hide sensitive info when posting to the Community.

Keep me posted.

I've been having this problem for weeks and weeks. It's happening on my android Galaxy s23 with android multiple times, and that didn't help. I currently have spotify version 9.1.0.1147

Hey @elmerpuddy,

Thanks for the info. Can you let me know if this happens with all episodes/shows? In addition, please check if this happens on a different device. If that’s not possible or doesn’t work, can you try this with a different account on your primary device?

Keep me posted.

This is only an issue on my mobile device, on all episodes on my Premium account. On a different account the problem only occurs on some episodes however, like the one in the screenshot above, and that is gone too after clearing cache. After logging back in on my main account, it's fixed also.

Hi there @Shonuffharlem,

Thanks for reaching out. We'll be happy to help you fully enjoy your podcasts.

This is quite odd and we haven't seen other reports quite like this. Could you please provide us the following, so that we can try and narrow down what exactly is causing this:

  • Is this on all devices or only on your Android phone? If you haven't tried on other devices, please do so.
  • When did this start happening?
  • Is this sporadic or does it happen every time you play a podcast?
  • Is it isolated to a specific podcast and/or specific episodes of a given podcast?

With this information, we’d be happy to investigate.

Keep us posted.

Hey @elmerpuddy and @Eevee13,

Thanks for the reply! Can you let me know if the issue has been fixed or if it’s fixed for a short period - just want to confirm? If the issue still occurs, can you let me know if this is happening after a specific event such as an update to the Spotify app? You can also check if this happens when you’re streaming online or if it happens with downloaded songs.

Also, please make sure that your OS is up-to-date and share with me the make and model of the device you’re experiencing this on so I can take a look.

Let me know how this goes!

Happens all the time on all podcasts for months. Can also display wrong time left in podcast, wrong total time of podcast, and even on one screen show 1x speed even though I'm at 2x speed and another screen shows proper speed.

It does NOT happen on my Samsung Tablet. ONLY S25 phone.

Note I have uninstalled the app after wiping it's cache and storage, then rebooting my phone, and reinstalling many times and after many updates. Bad Behavior still exist.

Hey @Shonuffharlem,

Thanks for the reply!

We were able to reproduce the issue you've described with the podcast from the screenshots you've provided and we've forwarded this to our tech folks so they can investigate further. As soon as we have any news to share, we'll make sure to post in this thread again, but make sure your app is always up-to-date in the meantime so you don't miss out on a potential fix.

Are you guys not seeing the correct playback position when playing back at faster than 1x? That's one of the problems I'm having lately, where the player will display a playback position a lot further back than where the podcast actually is. The podcast will almost be finished, but the playback position on the bar will show as if it still has a lot of time left. This is especially annoying because it doesn't show the correct section of the podcast that you're in.

I've done a clean reinstall and still have this same recurring issue.   The podcast length in the player is about twice as long as the actual length.  In this case, the episode is 2:16:33 but is displaying as 5:21:13.  It seems to occur on any episode with AI generated chapters.  It makes it nearly impossible to FF or REW to sections I want to find.
