My Question or Issue

I have a simple but confusing problem where on my phone Spotify works as it should and everything works fine but when i get on my computer music plays fine but the second i try and play a podcast (examples, Distractable & Markiplier (Power Wash Pals)) it simply stops working saying that there was a network connection issue. I already uninstalled Spotify once and I've tried playing podcasts on my phone then switching playback to my computer so far nothing has worked i am probably off to restart my computer and hopefully that fixes it but i don't think it will and if it doesn't knowing why this is happening would be stellar.

Hi there @TypicGalAlly,

Thanks for reaching out and welcome to the Spotify Community!

Does this only happen in the desktop app or in the Web Player as well? Do you happen to use a VPN? In case you do, try turning it off to see if that helps. Another thing that's worth trying is making sure Spotify is set as an exception via your firewall and anti-virus app, if you're using one. You can also try starting a hotspot from your phone and connecting your PC to it to see if the issue persists on a different internet connection.

Something similar was reported in this thread a while ago and a user found a solution so make sure to check that out as well since it might help.

Keep us posted.

Hi, it appears that since a couple of weeks, neither podcasts nor audiobooks will play for me (phone and computer, app and webplayer alike). I am on a paid premium plan.

I can search, find and browse audiobooks and podcasts without problem, but the play button just won't work. Music is fine.

Hey there @easyPZ,

Thanks for posting on the Community!

Just to confirm, do you notice any difference after changing the internet connection? For example, if you're currently connected to WiFi, you can temporarily create a hotspot on your phone. Make sure to switch off any VPN you're using, as mentioned earlier by @Dessi, as it might interfere with the service.

It would be great if you could double-check if this happens in Offline Mode as well. You can try downloading a few podcast episodes > switch the app to offline > try to play the episodes.

Should the issue persist, can you let us know what happens if you try to start an episode? Do you receive a specific error message or any changes to the play button itself?

Let us know how it goes!
