Poor Chromecast Performance (constant disconnections and other issues)

Poor Chromecast Performance (constant disconnections and other issues)

I'm constantly having 3 major issues with Spotify and Chromecast:

  1. It constantly loses connection (every 20-30 minutes or so). There are 2 kinds of disconnects that happen:
    1. Spotify loses connection but the chromecast keeps playing. You have to reconnect to change songs etc.
    2. Spotify loses connection and the chromecast quits playing. This happens more with the web player.
  2. Can't start casting with the desktop or android app, I have to start casting using the web player in Chrome, then I can use the desktop/android app (coupled with issue 1 mentioned above this is very annoying)
  3. Can't adjust volume with desktop or android app, you have to use the Google Home app

These issues still seem to exist (or the workarounds are unacceptable).

 

Desktop App Info:

  • Linux
  • Spotify version 1.0.80.480.g51b03ac3

Android App Info:

  • Pixel 2
  • Android Pie (version 9)
  • Spotify version 8.4.67.886

Could you start off by updating the Spotify versions on your desktop and Android device so that you're rocking the latest versions? That should do the trick.
