My Question or Issue

I pay for premium and was watching and listening to Joe Rogan Experience - Episode #1557 - Gad Saad when about an hour in i was forced to listen to two 15 second advertisements right in the middle of a sentence. i could fast-forward them which was ok... but still... whats this about? when i paid for premium i was promised an ad-free experience.

to clarify: this is not the podcast host saying "hey, this podcast is brought to you by.... blah blah blah" this was an interruption right in the middle of a sentence.

this is the first time this has happened but if this continues to be an issue, especially on meditation and relaxation podcasts, it will make your service unuseable and im pretty sure this is a breach of our agreement for an ad-free premium experience.

Hey there @tripandfly,

Thank you for your post here in the Community.

Some podcasts may have third-party advertising or sponsorship messages within their episodes that are embedded in the audio.

There's currently an idea - [All Platforms] No Ads in Podcasts for Spotify Premium users. You can leave a +VOTE and Subscribe to the thread for any updates.

If you have any questions we're always one reply away.

Cheers!

The point is that the ads in podcasts interrupt the said podcast, then plays the ad and then starts the original podcast again.

The player even shows another title is playing.

You say that those played ads which get streamed by spotify as seperate data isn't under spotifys controll?
The injected ad is not in the podcast directly. Even the player handles it as another title.

So when you say it is not in spotifys controll you say that a podcaster is able to stream whatever they want? Is he then able to launch an codeinjection attack since you have no controll over what he's sending?

To be honest it looks more like spotify seems to not hold onto their side of the premium deal anymore.

Otherwise spotify seems to be an upcomming IT-Security issue, because they give the opportunity to podcasters to inject any data they want.

So what will Spotify do about this?

Of course they won't do anything about this since they probably earn way more than the amount they lose by doing it. I feel disrespected as customer and considering leaving the platform. It's the first time I hear an ad content in ears because I've always chosen to pay in order to have an ad-free experience.
