I tried a clean install, flush dns, cleaning cache, different networks, different devices and it seems that the problem is linked to my account since when creating a new account the problem does not happen. The Spotify Web Version has the same problem.

Edit: I posted (link to the post) about bringing this feature back in the Ideas Board and I encourage people that are having this problem to vote there so it becomes more relevant.

Edit 2: The post got removed from Ideas Board and I don't know why.

It seems to be something with linked to the new update as someone said before... don't think it's a specific configuration issue from our end.
Probably we'll just have to wait till they get it fixed (hope they do it soon, i can't explain but it feels bad to be stuck with the same queue for days lol).

It’s very painful to deal with the same queue but I found that if you play a different playlist and then go back to your main one it will have reset, so that’ll help until they fix the issue!

When I play songs I usually check the queued songs, if the current set of queued (shuffled) songs do not suit my current needs I used to just play the first song from the beginning for a second (or third, fourth....) time and the shuffled/queued song list would be different (shuffled again). However, recently it seems that this does not work. I play the same or different song from the start for a few times and I still see the same queued songs from the first time I played the song. Is it a new "feature" or is there something wrong?

When I play a song it doesn't reset the queue anymore. Used to be able to press on a new song and it would reset the queue

When I have songs queued in shuffle mode, e.g. song1, song2, and song3, and i click on a new song after 3, the entire thing should be shuffled, but instead, the previous songs are 3, 2, and 1

Same also experiencing this issue on all my devices (windows 11 and ios)

Hey there folks,

Thanks for all your replies here!

We can confirm this is one of the changes we recently made. Now, you can reorder the queue by turning Shuffle off and on again. At Spotify, we're always testing new improvements and features to give our users a better experience. We really appreciate the time you took to let us know about this, we know you want to make the best out of your listening experience.

Your feedback is very important to us, because it helps us make future decisions. You can share your thoughts about this in the form of an idea. Make sure you follow our Idea exchange Guidelines when doing so, so other users can find it easily and show their support.

Just for context, our Ideas board is a place where Spotify users can share their feedback in the form of ideas, to improve the Spotify experience for everyone. Every user can suggest an idea or vote for any existing ones.

We'll be here if anything else comes up. Once again, thanks for the feedback.

Hey!

Thanks for clarifying the issue. It's pretty sad that the "feature" got removed. I sure will send the idea to bring back it.

Hello!

Please bring back the feature that when you select a new song the queue would automatically refresh. I can state three reasons for that to come back:

  • First, Spotify app on Windows (I don't know about the other OS) does not have the option to turn off permanentally the Smart Shuffle and the easiest way to refresh the queue would just be selecting another song;

  • Second, the algorithm related to make a consistent and random queue, that got better recently, loses it's sense since the queue will not refresh after selecting one song that would generate a "fitting" queue acordlying;

  • Third, I have used Spotify in a lot of different computers with diferent specifications and the fact that we'll have to possibly pass through the Smart Shuffle as we manually refresh the queue, turning on and off the Shuffle, is not good at all considering that the app may crash or have a poor performance in low budget computers.

I posted about this on spotify community before and I was guided try using the Ideas Board. I don't know when this feature will be fully removed since it seems that just some accounts were affected by this new update, but please don't do this. I really think this is somewhat a vital feature for power users.

My best regards,

Turning shuffle on and off shuffles, but I still notice it is pulling a lot of the same songs that were on the previous shuffle. The shuffle was doing so well a few weeks ago and seemed to be fixed, now, not so much.

NO. A bug isn’t a f word ing idea. and where the f word is the solution. NO, WE DONT HAVE IDEAS WE HAVE F WORD ING BUGS

Who thought about that """"feature""""? Who agreed to release this, what is the advantage?

Hope it gets fixed as fast as possible.

Hi,

I'm having the same issue and it is only happening on 1 of my playlists. Nothing I've tried seems to work. Has anyone found a solution yet?

Thanks,

Hi,

I'm having issues where the queue won't change whenever I select a new song. This only seems to be happening with 1 of my playlists. It works fine with my other playlists. I've tried reinstalling the app, restarting my phone, duplicating the playlist but nothing worked. Is there a solution to this?

Thanks,

This ain’t not damn “feature”, this is a BUG. If yall really spent time developing this “feature” I’ll be surprised. Spotify is making the most god awful useless updates nobody asked for

If its a new feature it needs to be adjusted, im up for the idea that just hitting shuffle changes the queue up, however, there is an oversight because all forms of the app (whether its Windows, WebPlayer, iOS, Android, etc) forget where your queue left off apart from the most recent song played, alongside it not properly shuffling, I've already brought this up with support and the escalation team that this is a bug with the supposed "feature" that needs to get adjusted, and see what has changed in between the prior updates that is causing this bug, because it makes listening to long playlists unenjoyable if the playlist crashes after a certain amount of time or if you close and reopen the app just for the playlist to start from the beginning, breaking the immersion

there's not really much into it, it's just annoying having to turn off and on the shuffle mode to reshuffle it
