Hi there,
I've been having this issue for over a month now where nothing will play on the web player. I get logged in, push play on a song, and then.. nothing. Skips every song after that and then the screen eventually dulls out back to the loading screen. So I refresh and the same issues. I log out and try again - same issues. I have reopened my browser and tried again - same issues. I've cleared the cache and browsing history several times - same issues. I have tried everything that I've read on these threads, but nothing is working. I need my music to play while I'm at work!
Please help.
*As of May 3rd, 2017, there still hasn't been a valid solution for this issue.
Still waiting to hear something back....
Try to completely uninstall your browser, and after you reinstall make sure you don't change any hidden settings in chrome://flags. Also does this happen with every browser?
Are you sure you have Flash Player properly installed and enabled?
Was there ever a solution to this? I'm having the same issue at work
Having the same exact issue.
There was no valid solution that I could find for the issue. 😞
I'm getting a 500 error from this endpoint: https://spclient.wg.spotify.com/track-playback/v1/devices
I just can't understand where I'm going wrong... I've tried deleting history and cookies, I've tried to use IE and Chrome and I just can't get it to work anymore... are there any other obvious tips? It stopped working for me earlier this year (February maybe)
Hey Ross,
Based on the error coming back:
raven.js:1130 POST https://spclient.wg.spotify.com/track-playback/v1/devices 500 (Internal Server Error)
(anonymous) @ raven.js:1130
(anonymous) @ web-player.9ea506c6.js:31
It's likely that the issue is on their side. Hoping there will be official word on the issue soon.
EDIT:
Looks like the issue's resolved. I no longer see the error and music playback is fine.
Quick resolution I'd say, now it works!
24 July 2017: Still not working. Once the problem was that the sound was coming out of my laptop in the next room (for no reason, obviously), because it had Spotify open. But there are no other devices running Spotify currently, and it's still not working.
I'm having the same issue. My spotify web player loads, but does not start when I press play for any song. A friend logged into their spotify account on my computer and it worked, but just my account doesn't work. I've tried re-installing my browser, clearing the cache, logging out of all spotify instances, ensuring flash is enabled.
Spotify is there a solution?
im having the same problem and have been for like a month, i need my music :((
So I was having the same problem with the web player not playing in Chrome. In an odd moment, I decided to check my spotify app on my phone because they pair together when they are on the same network. I opened the spotify app on my phone and tapped "devices available" then chose "web browser" and it came on...very loudly...in the library. Luckily I was wearing headphones. For whatever reason, my web player was defaulting to the phone even though the app wasn't even open on my phone. So when I clicked on play nothing would happen. Once I chose, on my phone, to play on the browser, everything worked fine.
For reference
Chrome browser
Chrome OS
Spotify Android App on Galaxy S8.
I was having this same issue. What worked for me was using the Spotify app on my phone to listen to a song. I opened the Spotify web player at the same time & got a green bar at the bottom saying that I was currently using Spotify on my phone. I closed the phone app, clicked the Connect to a Device button next to the volume control in the lower right corner of the browser window, clicked This Device (or whatever it says exactly) and finally, music after weeks of nothing! Hope this works for some of you too.
This worked for me too...weird
I'm having the same issue, started a few days ago, on an ASUS C300 chromebook. I open Google Chrome and start the webplayer, everything loads up but pressing play causes nothing to happen and trying to play other songs or playlists gets the same results, everything shows up in the "recently played" section but nothing actually plays in the web player, no sound, no reaction. Have tried clearing the cache, browsing data etc. Have also tried an incognito window, reloading the page, restarting and updating the chromebook, re-enabling playback of protected content in the settings, pretty much every suggestion on here and around the internet and nothing seems to work.
Same here, I don't know why it won't work.
