Spotify and alexa echo. song stop and start again

Hi, I have problem listening spotify in my amazon echo. When I'm listening, per exemple, a playlist, some songs cut while playing and start from the beggining again, it's random but and is't a little annoyning

 

Any help will be apreciated. thanks in advance.

No, I have an enterprise mesh network in my house and I still have major issues with this. I have also reserved an IP for my Echo and restricted its network privileges to only one AP

so i see an earlier person was saying that the issue was attributed to the spotify app.regarding the stuttering.hes completely right .when i tell my echo box to start  and stop a song on amazon music no stutter.so it is  a 100% spotify.i love spotify but i find thers a couple issues that subscribers have been complaining about for honsetly awhile now and nothing gets done i.e the automatic linking everytime i turn on my other android products,yes thers a easy solution turn off wifi before i hit my apt.but its unessessary,i shouldnt have to do this.i left apple music for many reasons that they did not want to address.spotify you have 2 issues please correct,thank you

I still can't explain it, but I have had no problems streaming Spotify
since I moved my wifi hotspot closer to the Echo Dot. It's been pretty much
flawless since then. It's odd that this should impact one service (Spotify)
and not the other (Amazon Music).

I did try moving my echo closer to the modem did not help

Try to turn off the bluetooth on the device that you use to connect the spotify.

I bought my echo dot some time ago and it never gave a problem playing spotify.

However, once I left my cell phone, which commands the spotify, with the bluetooth enabled, and my echo dot started to have some problems of streming spotify. This way, I disabled the bluetooth on my cell phone, and my echo dot returned to work properly again.

Have the same issue, when play just on one echo dot spotyfy play ok but with multiroom when connecten do other stop playing after 2, 3 song. This is very flustrating as I bought alexa to mainly stream spotify. The only one thing coming to my head that AMAZON DELIBERATELY STOPPING PLAYING SPOTIFY so users can stream they own platform which is amazon music. Can find any other reason this issue is going for long time amazon will fix it if he want to.

I think it's an Alexa problem. Most of the time I play Spotify through Alexa, it cuts out and/or stops playing after a few songs. It was cutting out for me, so I stopped playing through Alexa, and had it play Spotify from the speaker Alexa was using (Bose SoundTouch with direct connection to Spotify via wifi), and it played flawlessly. I think it's either the WiFi adapter or software in the Alexa that's not good. The WiFi in the Bose, which is next to the DOT, works fine. 

I am having this same problem. Gone through the littinay of restarts, reboots, reinstalls still nothing. I can see the song playing in the Spotify app but nothing from the echo. I saw one comment that recommended turning off gapless playback but that did nothing either. At first I figured this is how Amazon was going to get us to splurge for a new echo. It doe sthe same thing with Pandora too.

My echo was stopping regardless of what music app, and even some other apps. I plugged it in to a stronger USB plug, fixed. Make sure it's getting enough electricity!

That isn’t the issue. You most likely received a defective adapter. Why would any company include a power supply that does not provide enough current for the device to function, makes no sense. Right... what they would do is provide cheap adapters which improves margins for them at the cost of the few end users which might end up with faulty devices. I’ve had a couple of clients have an issue where the device would continually reboot, replacing the adapter fixed it.

I've been getting stuttering as well as stop-start playback. This is on an Echo and three Dots. WiFi signal makes no difference. Some are within a few feet of the AP others still in range and all other functions work perfectly. I powered up a Dot from a USB battery pack and walked it right up to the AP and it made no difference.

 

What I do notice is that they can play all day long but once past 6PM the suttering begins. By stuttering I mean rapid cutting in and out of the music as if there was a loose connection to some old analog gear.

Ive never heard of that. Usually it just stops playing and I will have to trigger it to play again with a remote, a voice command, or in Spotify. What speed is your ISP rating you for? That is the only thing I could think being the root of that problem other than a serious software bug. Also, reserve IPs for your Alexas as that has helped me a bit.

I recognise the same issues you have with playback stalling in addition to the Desktop app losing track of what's playing - issues that have been around since the inception of Spotify Connect in my experience. The stutter, however, is a relatively new problem - one which I attributed (incorrectly I now beleive) to playback through the Amazon voice assistants.

 

The reason I have changed my mind on this issue is that since my previous post where I reported the stuttering begin shortly after 6PM, I have since spoken with my Son who has his own Spotify account and he experienced the exact same problem at virtually the same minute. I had looked up at a clock at 6:03 and he noted the onset of stuttering at 6:02 - but he was listening using the Windows desktop App.

 

The most likely explanation is that there is a network issue on our home LAN or with our ISP although there appeared to be the usual solid 70Mbit internet connection at the time. I had previously reserved the IP addresses of all playback devices although I'm now wondering about the DHCP lease expiry.

First off: Ahhh... finally someone in this forum who knows anything about advanced routing and just networking in general.

 

70Mbps is totally adequate for Spotify. In regards to your ISP being the issue. Patches are usually applied at 2am (or at least for mine) and are not daily so that rules that out. What brand and model is your router/gateway or if you have something better what is doing your routing (PFSense and similar)? I would check to ensure that you do have a static DHCP lease set for your devices and make sure they are actually the proper MAC addresses. I would then change your lease renewal period a multiple of 24 hours so it occurs on a schedule but ensure that it renews when you are all asleep. If you have a consumer router you may be able to set the lease renewal time to an actual TOD. This is the best solution I have since Amazon currently doesn’t support true static IPs. (This must be done client side in addition to reserving the IP router side) Also a heads up I have spoken to Tier 3 Specialists at Amazon and they do not predict Static IP configuration will be coming down the pipe anytime soon (this has been a recurring thorn in my side as many of my clients have this issue with multiple Dots with this issue.

I just assumed it was because Alexa, listening to the music, thought it was me saying 'Alexa'.  It plays music, hears instruments/sounds like ahh sss ss ss and pauses to listen for instructions.  You can test it by pushing the mute microphone button while its playing music.

 

My other tinfoil theory is that there are probably secret sounds Amazon uses in the Alexa devices to control it, for development and testing etc.  The music is sounding like those test sounds so Alexa pauses to listen.

This may be for you, but for me, my clients, and many other users there is an issue with Alexa simply stopping randomly, not stopping to listen, but out of the blue. It doesn’t matter if the microphone is muted or not it will still happen. I even removed the microphone array from an spare echo dot gen. 2 for the heck of it and it still does the same gosh darn thing.

Interesting. I've been seeing IP conflicts involving Amazon Dots. Ususally a router re-boot takes care of things (WRT1900ACSv2) also, I'm reminded that we have a chromecast on the network and I read that packet flooding can take place under certain conditions. Thanks for the tips.

Mine is skipping exactly every 46 seconds, consistently. 

 

I am using an amazon dot and as well as Spotify premium. The dot is plugged into the USB port of the Bluetooth speaker to which it connected. 

I have the same problem. Stuttering on the echo all the time.
