Spotify doesn't play 5.1 on Sony Google TV (but it works on Xbox).

I have a Sony X90K TV, a Yamaha receiver, and an Xbox One. The Xbox and the receiver are connected to the TV with HDMI and HDMI Arc respectively.
When I play a song on Xbox, the receiver shows (and plays) a 5.1 audio stream. But when I play the same song directly through Spotify app on the TV, the sound is stereo and not 5.1.
Does the Spotify TV app not support 5.1?

Hi there!

Currently, Spotify is generally designed to output in Stereo only, but if you'd like to up-mix the audio to 5.1, you can try configuring this in your AVR to see if that does the trick.

Up-mixing is definitely something that's on our tech folks' radar, so hopefully in the future the app would be able to support it fully. Rest assured we'll keep everyone posted in our For the Record blog as soon as we have any new info to share about this.
