Spotify info not displaying on car stereo for MONTHS.

Solved!

Spotify info not displaying on car stereo for MONTHS.

 Hello,

I'm a Spotify Premium member and I was very excited to get a bluetooth Kenwood stereo system installed in my car over the summer, so that I could control Spotify and listen to my music easily (I used to have to fiddle with my phone while driving, which was obviously dangerous). It worked great for the most part - on occasion, I would have trouble getting Spotify to connect, but I always managed after an occasional reset.

However, a few months ago (maybe around Thanksgiving?) information stopped displaying on the Spotify setting of my radio. The music plays, but no song title/artist/etc. info appears, and I cannot use my steering wheel buttons to control the music anymore. It works well on the bluetooth setting, so I don't think it's the radio or my phone, and I'm hoping to get this fixed because the bluetooth radio setting doesn't have the same functionality.

I've searched high and low for a solution and none have worked for me - fiddling with the stereo settings, cleaing cache and data, fiddling with Spotify settings/app permission/phone settings, uninstalling and reinstalling the app entirely, etc.

Here's some info:

- I have a Samsung S7 running Android 8, Samsung Experience version 9.

- I have the most up-to-date version of Spotify that seems to be available to me (Version 8.4.91.861)

- I have all permissions turned to "on" under my Spotify app settings.

- I have "Car view" turned on.

- I have "Device Broadcast Status" turned on.

Someone please help - at my wit's end!

Hi folks,

Thank you for posting on this thread and sharing all those insights.

@ardakaan Could you follow the troubleshooting steps posted by @YX? These may work for you.

If the don't do the trick, please let us know more info about the setup you're using: The make, model and OS of your phone, as well as the Spotify version you're running. And lastly, your car's audio device information.

We'll be on the lookout.

Hi @MafeG,

Since the above solution didn’t work for me, I found an another workaround.

When I pluged the usb cable, audio system throws an error an write “found no audio in device”. After a while spotify start playing from car and all controls active from car, but still writes the error message and no song information on device display. I thought that the loading time of spotify is long and because the car audio don’t find a audio file in phone, it throws an error. What I did is, I add an audio file in phone memory. When I connect the cable, car audio device finds thefile and don’t throw an error, shows the song information on display, and then spotify opens and yeppp… Spotify song informations are on car audio device display!!!

Maybe spotify may think to add a generic spotify audio intro to overcome this problem for the devices like mine. The problem is because of the device of course, but the solution can come from spotify to support these kind of devices…

best regards,

I'm having the same issues. I have tried the troubleshooting tips and still haven't been able to get it to work. I haven't used a cable because my car's port doesn't work. The best I can get it to do is update for a song or 2 and then it stops updating.

I tried it with a different phone and account and it worked for a couple of
songs and then quit working again.

My phone is a Moto G Stylus running on Android One and it is up to date. My
Spotify version is 8.6.74.1176

Why is this issue still happening after months? It's really annoying. Can you please fix it?

For some time now Spotify has not been showing song titles on my stereo when my iPhone 13 is connected to the USB port (iPod mode). Ive exhausted all the options that have been given on this thread I’ve even deleted the app and re-download it and signed back in. Only reason I connect to USB is because when it’s connected to my Bluetooth in my car after I skipping through a few songs it resets my stereo where it has to reboot. I even had my dealership check in on this maybe thinking it was an issue on their end but they never found anything. It gets very frustrating that this hasn’t been working for me and I’m paying for the premium package.

With Android the AVRCP has been updated to 1.6 with 1.5 aset as default which interferes with Spotifys metadata of displaying the song information in your car.

You will need to enter developers options and change to it 1.4 or 1.3 and it will work again.

However Spotify need to update their app in order to work with the new version of AVRCP to the latest version and the newer versions going forward.

I'd ask that you relay this information to your Android app development team to make sure they know and to update the app accordingly to accept the new default version of 1.5 or the newer 1.6

I don’t have an android

I don’t have an android

I don't have an iPhone 😂

But on a serious note, I'd say it's the same issue on iPhone although I'm not sure how this can be changed. Spotify need to look into the AVRCP on both platforms.

Any car from 2015 or below only work with 1.4 or 1.3 Newer cars will display the metadata with 1.5 and 1.6 it seems

Thank you WARRENCOAKLEY!

My phone AVRCP was 1.4 by default and i change it to 1.3. Now everything works fine.

Car WV Passat 2015.
