I was listening to music on a walk and it was on an ad break, but the ad stopped playing so, I checked my phone and saw it was paused. I pressed play but it almost instantly paused again. It's very inconsistent when it pauses it could be almost instantly or it could take a minute. It's also doing the same thing on my Xbox
Could you confirm if you still experience this after logging out from all devices and then logging back in? This is sometimes necessary to force a sync of info between your device and our account system.
If you see no difference after logging out, try a clean reinstall of Spotify on both devices. This will remove corrupted cache from previous installations that could be the root of this issue.
