Spotify loads very slow and frequently freezes

Spotify loads very slow and frequently freezes

For some reason, Spotify has become slow, and often freezes. Frequently, I have to start the app or program again.

 

The device doesn't matter. It happens on the laptop, the smartphone ánd the tablet. The (not old) tablet often just gives a black screen.

 

Everywhere else at my home, the internet connection is good. There's nothing wrong with other apps and programs. And I've emptied the caches.

 

What can be the problem?

Thanks for posting in the Community and welcome. 

 

In this case, we'd like to gather some additional info to better understand what's happening on your side. Did you notice if this started to happen after a specific event such as an OS update? If yes, please send us the details.


On another note, does this happen if you change the internet connection you're using? If possible, you can create a hotspot on your phone and connect your affected devices to it, to see if you notice any difference. Give it a try and let us know if changing the connection makes any difference.


Lastly, and just to confirm, is the same happening if you open a different account on the affected devices? It’d be awesome and helpful if you could check. You can ask for the account of a relative or a friend to open your account and check.

I've noticed nothing special, like an OS Update. And it also happens outside of my home, at my smartphone.

 

There's an old second account and I've tried it - seems to load less heavy. Possibly there are too many playlists on my first account, although it's far from the maximum amount you can save.

Would you mind sharing with us the make/model and OS of all the affected devices along with the exact Spotify versions you're running there? 

 

You might need to check for any local settings on your devices that could be blocking the app. In case there's an antivirus software or such that could be restricting access to the app, try whitelisting Spotify.
 

Lastly, would you mind sending us a video recording of what you noticed on your side? Please attach the video in your next reply in mp4 format, or you can also upload it to YouTube or Google drive and make them public, so we can visualize it.
