My Question or Issue
I stream Spotify from my phone to my stereo, a Yamaha CRX-N560. Recently, I've been unable to connect Spotify to the stereo, which gives me the message "Bad Account". The stereo has the latest firmware, but Yamaha stopped producing updates a while ago.
I see that the most recent Spotify update was on 13 Jan 2025. My best guess is that this is the cause of the problem; that is, the this update contains changes that mean it can't link to my (and probably other older) stereo(s). I see that this problem has arisen in the past, and it was solved via updates from the affected stereo manufacturers. For my stereo (and I imagine other older ones), this is no longer possible.
Am I correct that this is the cause of the problem? If so, what can I do? (As I say, I cannot obtain an update from Yamaha).
Thanks for your help.

Hey there @sigmundo,
Thanks for reaching out!
That's correct. If you're using an older device that no longer receives updates, its integration with Spotify might not work properly.
For now, you can try using Bluetooth instead of Connect as a workaround for this.
Hope this helps. The Community will be here if anything else comes up.
Cheers!

Same issue here with my Yamaha S601 - really really frustrating
I’m now also unable to connect to my Yamaha R803D… so annoying! Surely you can fix this Spotify team?
I take it back - I had a network issue at my end and had no internet on my amplifier. It was using the wrong Default Gateway and once I fixed it, the Spotify app connected to the Yamaha R-N803D amp and all is well.
Hey there you, Yeah, you! 😁 Welcome - we're glad you joined the Spotify Community! While you here, let's have a fun game and get…
