Spotify Plan Premium Family
Amazon Fire TV Stick HD
Fire OS 7.6.8.8 (PS7688/4591)
Fire TV Home version 6560194.1
Spotify app version 1.83.3
The application starts but as soon as I click on something it displays : "Something went wrong" and stays stuck on that message. Clicking OK or back does nothing.
I can still use the app on my android phone to cast and control the Fire stick Spotify app but the display remains stuck on the same error message. I cannot use the Fire stick remote or android app.
I tried every usual thing: force stop, clear cache, clear data, uninstall app, reinstall app, etc. I also reset my Fire stick to factory defaults. Nothing works.
Everything other app on Fire stick works. Only Spotify doesn't work.
Spotify works fine on my android phone, car and laptop.
It truly looks related to the Spotify app on Fire stick. Is there a way for me to revert to a previous version of the app?
Please see error message pic attached.
FYI, I have a second fire stick and the same problem occurs so it's not a faulty device.
Hey there, @ambientson,
Thanks for reaching out!
Does this occur before or after logging in to your account? If possible, ask someone who uses Spotify (a friend or a relative would do) to log in to their account to see if the issue would persist. It's also worth checking if switching to a different Wi-Fi network or creating a mobile hotspot for the TV does the trick.
Something else you can try is power cycling the device by turning it off > unplugging it from the power outlet > waiting 60-120 sec > plugging it back in.
Let us know how it goes 👍
Thanks for the quick reply.
Well that was fun... I looked at your recommendations (it happened after login) and tried my second wifi network. It allowed me to access spotify (no error message) but there was no sound and it would automatically move on to the next song after about 10 seconds into the song.
I tried restarting the fire stick. It didn't help. I unplugged and replugged it, didn't help. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling the Spotify app but it stayed stuck in "Queued" state.
I tried my mobile phone mobile hotspot at that point. The Spotify app downloaded and it started working.
I changed network again to the original one (which didn't work) and lo and behold it now seems to work.
I restarted the fire stick a couple of times and it still works.
Any idea what the h**l the issues was so that this weird sequence of events fixed it??
Many thanks! 👍💥
