I'm an Artist with Distrokid as my distributor.
Today, I received a heartbreaking email that told me the entire track got removed from Spotify due to "artificial streaming".
I do not, in any way deny that it could be the case (without my knowledge) but it was genuinely unintentional.
Many small independent Artists like myself are constantly looking for ways to promote our music to help grow our career. Since Spotify does not have an official promotion service (like Adwords for Youtube), there are tons of third party services out there varying from plain-sight obvious scams to possibly genuine. However, as you can imagine, it is always a gamble when trusting someone new to promote your music.
I would happily invest in Spotify official campaigns or any promoters that Spotify endorses, but they do not exist?
I honestly wished I could pin-point which particular promoter was the culprit as I've done full-blown $2,000-$3,000 press release campaigns and smaller, more focused Spotify campaigns for a particular track.
It feels a little unfair that there were no warnings to this or having a penalty whereby the "fake streams" would be just removed instead of the entire track. Of course, the Spotify analytics could give me a red flags if the promoter was using fishy-methods, but by that time, there's nothing I can do to reverse it.
This has hurt me real bad and I am absolutely devastated.
What can I do about it now? Is there a chance Spotify would show some compassion and reinstate the track?
Am I even allowed to reupload the track again under a different or same ISRC number?
Any advice would be dearly appreciated.

This happened to me too. Spotify Support just closed my chat each time I try to get answers. They literally say "I am going to end the conversation" after I ask them for answers.
@lukerfitz Yes, that's a lot of us. Remember that your listeners are humans who are just as angry or in some cases even angrier than you are at this point.

Hello people, I got my songs deleted that together they made 300M+ streams.. and it's under investigation because ""fake streams"" and it's understandable, 300M streams it's not a low number tbh I've been researching and I found out that most of the people that had this type of problem were DistroKid users. After 4 weeks I got a response of DistroKid support because I was panicking because 300M streams are like more than a million dollars and that's a lot of money that people like me REALLY needs. I didn't got a response on how much they will be investigating my music.. I'll attach the mail below.
Same thing just happened to my band, Spotify Artist Support is absolutely no help. Conversations with them got shut down several times, they keep trying to put it on the distributor but the distributor is telling us we need to go through Spotify.
Are you with Distrokid? It seems it happens almost anyone who uses Distrokid, including me
That's crazy... And sometimes my tracks are getting into playlists without me knowing, so I truly don't understand the logic. They blame me, take my money and they keep doing it for years. Spotify is to blame because their support are so rude and close my requests and inquiries...
Sounds like a perfect situation for a class action lawsuit! Certainly this affects only the independent little guy. There is no fraud unless intent to deceive for ill gotten gains. This sounds like many independent artists hire the third party promoters without knowing of their illegitimate means of promotion. These independent artists have invested thousands of dollars in the tracks that are unilaterally removed by Spotify without notice to the artist, thereby, creating financial damage to the artist and the artist’s career. Seek out a class action lawyer who will take your case as a contingency case.
So what can we do? We can work on music for years and get an audience and they just remove it without any proof and just loose or our life's work?
Yes... They have the power! Like Meta with Facebook accounts ou Instagram... They close your account because they have not enough security and someone hacked you account... You are allways guilty.
Because you can't give no proofs about beeing innocent. They should have a kind of "Second chance" or "stopping time" opportunity to the artists...
Something that isn't unfair, there mus be a solution to this.
Because Spotify has bugs too, this is like beeing life doomed without beeing in court with a Judge...
Are people interested in starting a class action lawsuit over this?
I don't understand, we, the independent artists gave Spotify the name they have now, without all the artists they would be unknown. How can we actually sue them? Is that actually possible?
