Hi folks,
Thanks for the patience and for all the reports!
We're unable to provide an ETA for a fix at this time, but rest assured this will remain on our internal teams' radar. In the meantime, make sure you're always running the latest version of Spotify so you don't miss out on any updates.

My Question or Issue
I am running Spotify for macOS (Apple Silicon) 1.2.61.443.gc51c574b. Since this update, I have been experiencing problems with playlist playback. A song will start, play, then everything stops -- the play indicator says it's playing. I can stop/start, if I "foward" to next song, usually it will play the same song. Other times, I will have some playlists play better than others, I don't believe this has to do with playback quality settings -- I have superfast Internet here and everything else is working well.
I do have Sonos playback here -- I have tried playing Spotify from within Sonos.app and I experience the same problems with Spotify, but I have not noticed any other issues. The WIFI signal here is strong, I'm literally in a room about 700sqft where my studio is... access point is 7 feet away, etc. So I don't know there is an issue there.
This seems to have started since I updated Spotify, so I wanted to ask if others are experiencing the same problem. On the network, I have observed callouts to api.branch.io and to google-analytics.com from Spotify. Some of those calls fail -- which I would think shouldn't matter, if coded properly.
Hi, I'm having this problem as well.
Starting playback on my Sonos from the Spotify app on my computer or Android device will play for one song and then stop.
Starting playback via Spotify inside the Sonos app has no issue.
What's the latest solution to this? It's clearly a Spotify problem, not a Sonos one.

My Question or Issue
Since this morning, when I'm using Connect to play podcasts on my Sonos speakers, the audio keeps stopping and starting every 10 seconds or so. I think this is an issue with the Connect feature, because when I'm connected to the speaker via bluetooth, there's no audio issue.
Same thing happening for me. How do we get a response from Spotify support?
Same here for at least over a year now.
I have multiple sonos products on S2 software, they run just fine, no such issues.
I also have a small S1 system, with a pair of Play:5 (gen1) and a pair of IKEA Symfonisk (gen1), all of them wired. Music running from an iPhone 16, either directly from the Spotify app, or from the Sonos S1 app, makes no difference. (eg. Apple Music and Sonos Radio however has no such issue on the same speakers.)
- If I only use the Play:5 pair, the same issue comes up, music stops randomly on one (or sometimes both) speakers, and in about 10 seconds it continues (not from the same spot, but as if the song kept playing just the sound did not come out of the speaker).
- If however, I use the Symfonisk alone, OR start playback on the Symfonisk and THEN group the Play:5 pair on top, the issue seems to be gone. It seems like in this case, the newer speaker is taking over some part of the heavy lifting, which is enough to save the Play:5s from crashing.
There is a memory chart posted on reddit (see link below), and both the behavior and the specs suggest to me that somewhere along the line, one component just runs out of memory, drops playback, quickly restarts and resumes where it left off:
For now, my workaround is to keep at least one other speaker on S1 that does as much processing as it can, as the master of the group, and then the Play:5 only has to handle the raw stream. But that's uncomfortable and wastes both shelf space and hardware - just because of an (apparent) unfixed memory leak.
I have been having the same problem for the last week or so. It's pretty disrutive when trying to listen to a playlist. Incidentally, I also noticed that when I try to deactivate (the horrible) "enhanced shuffle" button it refuses to turn off. I'm not sure if this is related or a separate issue.
So Spotify will always play one song fine, then when it gets to the end it just sits there, never moving to the next song in the playlist.
I am here for this, let up hope "backstage" is not merely "under carpet".
It is as described by others. S1. Play 5. Podcasts. 7.XX minutes into podcast. AND iOS.
My only thought was the iOS was that the screen was shutting off... then it stops playing, but I hit play then click power/home/onlybuttonleftoniPhone and the screen shuts off and it continues to play for 7 minutes.
Spotify ONLY.
Same issue here Sonos Play 5 Gen 1, songs/podcasts play for a few seconds then no audio and skips to next track in queue. in the case of podcasts it appears as though they are still playing but no audio after a few seconds. All other services work fine 😕
Worth noting this is exactly what is happening. The podcasts keep running according to the counter, no audio. If you pause/play, or skip forward or backwards, it resumes for 7 more minutes.
I took the inevitable suckers deal for 30% "upgrade offer" off a new piece of high quality S2 junk. I fee like this is entirely Spotify just being terrible. This is why we all were secretly afraid of never owning our media.
I have the same problem on my Sonos era 100 speaker. Spotify plays one song until almost the end and then the progress bar sits there indefinitely, until I interfere. Then it plays 1 or 2 songs and stops playing just before the end of the song. Rinse and repeat.
what I forgot to add (the website won’t let me edit my reply) : my speaker is playing song B, but in the Spotify app you still see that song A is playing. This is a problem that keeps coming back since two years.

Amazing to know this STILL hasn’t been fixed in 2025. A known problem for this long that still persists and they do nothing. What trash service and trash support. What a trash dev team too for this being a continued problem for this long
I am still suffering the same problem... Please, someone find a solution for this issue...
I've just bought a Move 2 and discovered this issue today. Essentially renders this speaker useless for my use case. Didn't think playing music through Spotify on Sonos speaker would be a tall ask.
Any new status?
I have the same issues since last update. The winds in the playlist stop and start randomly. Spotify on iPhone and S1. I am slowly but surely fed up with Spotify. Might drop it for another service, or go back to CD’s and Vinyl….
I have the same issue since few days. Sonos works fine with my girfriend free Spotify account. But it doesnt work properly with my premium one (randomly stopping if played from my iPhone o MacBook). I would say unti solution is not provided by Spotify the temporary fix is to downgrade to free Spotify account.
